EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles stood out in the Ohio Valley Conference during 2023-24, earning the league’s Institutional Achievement Award for the second-straight season. The honor is presented to the institution with the greatest percentage of eligible student athletes that earn a 3.25 grade point average (GPA) or higher for an academic year.

“To win this award in our first two years of Division I is amazing,” said USI Vice President and Athletics Director Jon Mark Hall. “I applaud the efforts of our student-athletes, coaches, administrative academic support staff, and faculty at USI.

“With all the noise going on around our young people today, it is awesome that they have stayed focused on what is truly important,” continued Hall. “This is an award that the entire campus should be proud of.”

Three Eagle programs also won OVC Team Academic Achievement Awards, which are presented annually in each conference-sponsored sport member institution’s team with the greatest percentage of its eligible student athletes who achieved a 3.25 GPA or higher.  Eric Harcourt promoted to Assistant AD for Sports Medicine

Harcourt has been on the UE AT staff since 2021

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Eric Harcourt has been promoted to the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine at the University of Evansville.  He assumes the role following the retirement of Terry Collins after 37 years with the Purple Aces.

Harcourt joined the Aces staff in June of 2021 as an Assistant Athletic Trainer and has been working in that capacity since that time.

“I am grateful to (UE Director of Athletics) Ziggy Siegfried and the UE athletics administration for this opportunity and the chance to continue providing high-quality healthcare to our student-athletes,” Harcourt exclaimed.  “This would not have been possible without Terry Collins and my other mentors who prepared me to take this step.”

“Having the chance to work with Terry for the last three years has been a great experience and I look forward to working with our staff to continue to build on the high standard that he set throughout his career.”

Before joining the UE staff, Harcourt earned his Master’s of Science in Exercise Science from Indiana State University where he was a graduate assistant athletic trainer with the Sycamore baseball team.  He earned his Bachelor’s of Arts in Athletic Training from Anderson University (Ind.) in 2019.  Prior to his senior year, he completed a summer internship with the Indianapolis Colts.

“Over the past few years we have been able to add to our Athletic Training staff to meet the demands of sports medicine for our student athletes,” Terry Collins said.  “Eric is one of those additions and is well prepared to lead the group keeping the standard of care at a high-level for UE student-athletes.”

Harcourt is a native of Brownsburg, Ind.
