Gov. Holcomb Provides Statement on Allegations Regarding the State’s Attorney General
Gov. Eric J. Holcomb offered the following statement today regarding a report from The Indianapolis Star on an investigation into allegations made against Indiana Attorney General Curtis Hill:
“I’m in a remote area of Montana with Janet celebrating our anniversary for a few days. I have limited information from media sources I’m able to access.
“We took great care to update our sexual harassment policies for the executive, legislative and judicial branches in the past few months. No one should be subjected to unwanted sexual advances. I commend House and Senate leaders for their immediate and formal follow up to the allegations presented to them.
“I’ll return to Indianapolis late tomorrow night. Until I’ve reviewed the facts in detail, I will have no further comment.â€
Body Recovered in Posey County after Man Falls into Lake
Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a possible drowning after a 77 year old Posey County man fell from his boat into the water.

Dennis Happel (77) of Wadesville got a fishing hook stuck in his hand after trying to unhook a bass he had caught. While trying to do this, he fell into the water. His wife was unable to save him and contacted 911 at approximately 10:00 am this morning for assistance.

Public Safety Divers with the Perry Township Fire Department and Indiana Conservation Officers recovered the body of Happel at 11:55 am in ten to twelve feet of water.

The incident occurred on a small lake owned by Happel and there were no life jackets on the boat or near the water to assist him.

The boat being used was a small boat, approximately ten feet in length. No foul play is suspected.

Responding agencies included the Wadesville Fire Department, Marrs Township Fire Department, Perry Township Fire Department, Griffin Fire Department, Posey County Sheriff’s Office, Posey County EMS, Posey County Coroner’s Office and Indiana Conservation Officers.
Mt. Vernon Man Arrested for Child Molesting
Posey County – Indiana State Police initiated a criminal investigation on June 26 after receiving information that a Mt. Vernon man had recently molested two girls under the age of 14.
During the investigation, Indiana State Police Detective Wes Kuykendall revealed that Carlampio Lopez, 24, of Mt. Vernon, allegedly molested two Posey County girls under the age of 14 between May and June 24.
After the Posey County Prosecutor’s Office reviewed the case, several felony charges were filed and an arrest warrant was issued for Lopez. Troopers attempted to locate Lopez, but they discovered he had fled to Alabama.
Monday afternoon, July 2, the U.S. Marshals Service located and arrested Lopez in Austinville, AL. The specifics about his arrest was not available at the time this release was issued. It is not known at this time when Lopez will be returned to Posey County.
