With inclement weather forecast for the Evansville area, the University of Evansville baseball team has canceled Wednesday’s non-conference match-up with Eastern Illinois, which was set for 6 p.m. at Charles H. Braun Stadium.
The Aces will be back in action this weekend, when they make the trip to Cincinnati, Ohio to take on Xavier, beginning Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. Central Time.

University of Southern Indiana Softball heads to St. Louis, Missouri, this weekend to take on Maryville University in a Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader Saturday at noon. The Screaming Eagles also visit the University of Missouri-St. Louis for a conference twinbill Sunday at noon.
All four games are currently scheduled to be aired live on 95.7 The Spin and on the GLVC Sports Network, while live stats audio and video can be accessed at GoUSIEagles.com.
USI (16-10, 4-0 GLVC) enters this weekend’s games on a five-game winning streak after sweeping the opening weekend of GLVC play, while Maryville is 18-9 overall after posting a 3-1 mark to open league play last weekend. Missouri-St. Louis (9-11, 1-3 GLVC) dropped three of its first four conference games a week ago.
The No. 17-ranked Indiana University women’s swimming and diving team heads to Austin, Texas this week for the 2019 NCAA Championships starting on Thursday at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
The meet gets underway on Thursday for the Hoosiers. The meet will run through Saturday, with prelims starting at 10:00 a.m. ET each day and finals each night at 6:00 p.m. ET. Live swimming results can be found at IUHoosiers.com, while live diving results are located atDiveMeets.com.

A total of 17 Hoosiers will be making the trip to Austin this week to compete at the NCAA Championships. Along with the individual events, IU will also compete in four relays.

NCAA Championship History
The Hoosiers are having the most successful run at the NCAA Championships in program history, having not finished lower than 15th in the last 11 years, posting five top-10 finishes in that stretch.
With King’s titles in the 100 and 200 breaststroke last season, Indiana has won eight titles over the last five seasons – most prolific stretch of any Big Ten team in history. IU is also the first squad in league history to win at least one national title in five-consecutive seasons.
Last year at the 2018 NCAA Championships, Indiana finished in eighth place with a total of 169 points. The Hoosiers posted the team’s third-straight top-10 finish at the NCAA Championships for the first time since accomplishing the feat from 2008-10. The top-10 finish was the ninth in school history.
2019 Big Ten Championships
Indiana captured the team’s first Big Ten championship for the first time in 2011 with a total score of 1,386.5 points.
Over the course of the 2019 Big Ten Women’s Championships, the Hoosiers won a total of 14 medals – seven gold, one silver and six bronze. Earning First-Team All-Big Ten honors for the Hoosiers were Bailey Andison, Christine Jensen, Lilly King, Shelby Koontz, Jessica Parratto and Morgan Scott.
UE campus engages local community
 In a university-wide effort to help the Evansville community, students at the University of Evansville have teamed up to create the LEAD Forward Dollar Challenge to benefit the Tri-State Food Bank.
The challenge will see various entities on the UE campus compete against each other to raise money for the Tri-State Food Bank. With the resources utilized by the food bank, it can provide seven meals for $1.
Clubs, teams, organizations, faculty and students will nominate other donors over various social mediums to do their part. Every single donation counts and will make a difference by feeding the future.
Fans and supporters are invited to take part in the challenge and can do so by donating or volunteering directly at the food bank. Links to each are above.

YWCA Evansville is asking the community to help Raise the Roof! The YWCA roof is in desperate need of replacement. Water leaks are causing significant internal damage to the 94 year old building. Donations made to the YWCA Raise the Roof fund will now have double the impact thanks to a generous pledge of $50,000 in matching funds from an anonymous donor. Thanks to this pledge, YWCA Evansville will only be only $60,000 short of the funds needed to replace their leaking roof.
YWCA Evansville has served the Tri-State community since 1911, operating from the same building for the past 94 years. The YWCA is a home to hundreds of homeless women and children each year. As a safe place for healing and recovery, the YWCA building has witnessed the transformation of countless women. Although the roof has experienced several emergency repairs over the years, it is currently decades old and in need of replacement in order to prevent further damage to client bedrooms and common areas.
“The safety and wellbeing of clients is our top priority so we work diligently to maintain and repair our historic building,†said Erika Taylor, chief executive officer of the YWCA. “The current state of our leaking roof has caused major interior damage to the ceilings, walls and floors of client bedrooms and common areas. It is imperative that we have our roof replaced as soon as possible. We are calling upon the Tri-State community to open their hearts and their wallets to help fund this urgent need.â€
Raise the RoofÂ
Boonville, IN – Larry D. Speicher, 65, of Boonville, Indiana passed away peacefully at his home on March 17, 2019.
Larry was born in Evansville, Indiana to the late Raymond (Jack) and Rayetta (McKinney) Speicher.
He loved riding his motorcycle, singing karaoke, bowling, telling jokes, camping, and playing the fiddle, but above all, he loved his family and spending time with them, along with spoiling his grandkids.
Larry leaves behind his wife and love of his life for 24 years, Doris A. Feldmeier-Speicher; children Scott R. (Reva) Speicher, Dale R. Speicher, Christina R. (Javen) Cox and Daniel W. Ahlefeld; grandchildren Veronica F. Ahlefeld (Jonathan Ellis), Jack and Michael Speicher, Kadyn and Sadie Cox and 2 great-grandsons; sister Diane (Ronnie) Weisheit as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his brother, David W. Speicher.
Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, March 22, 2019, at Koehler Funeral Home in Boonville, IN officiated by Brother David Smith and with military honors.
Visitation will be held from 3 P.M. to 7 P.M. on Thursday, March 21, 2019, and from 9 A.M. until time of service on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
