Dorothy Lively, age 88, of Evansville, IN, finished her earthly journey on June 3, 2019, and is with Jesus.
Dorothy was born October 2, 1930, in Evansville, IN, to Frank A. and Frances (Stuteville) Roth. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church since 1990 where she attended You Need Us Sunday School Class. Dorothy also attended First Baptist Church of Elberfeld. She was a former Pink Lady at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Linda Munday and Debbie and Dan Wolf; grandchildren, Jamie Huffine, Lori Ann Watson, Jennifer Thompson, Chuck Munday, David and Sue Munday, and Jake Inkenbrandt; and great-grandchildren, Melinda, Alyssa, Emily, Abbey, Libbey, Peyton, Xavier, Ryder, and Easton.
She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband of 53 years, Paul Lively; second husband, Sid Cash; daughter, Paula Cates; granddaughter, Laura Ann Munday; sisters, Mary Wesbecher and Mae Ubelhor Hart; brother, Frank W. Roth; Aunt Ann; and sons-in-law, Charlie Munday and Billy Cates.

Raymond L. Kummer, age 91, of Newburgh, IN, passed away at 1:40 a.m. on Sunday, June 2, 2019, at Cypress Grove Rehabilitation Center.
Raymond was born January 18, 1928, in Dimock, SD, to Joseph and Adele (Wieger) Kummer. He was a Veteran in the United States Navy where he served during the Korean War. Raymond retired from Raben Tire Company as the Warehouse Foreman. He was a member of VFW Post 2953.
Raymond is survived by his sons, Michael Kummer (Shannan) and Joseph Kummer; daughter, Kelly Kummer (Richard); sisters, Adele Bender (Virgil) and Betty O’Brien; and grandchildren, Hannah Kummer, Madison Kummer, Jackson Kummer, Tyler Thacker, and Jordyn Thacker.
Raymond is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Victor and William; sisters, Donna and Helen; and grandson, Gabriel Kummer.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff and residents of Cypress Grove for their care and concern.

Martha Julian, age 91, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 6:30 a.m. on Friday, May 31, 2019, at Hamilton Pointe Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Martha was born September 24, 1927, in Evansville, IN, to Wendel and Nellie (McDonald) Eskridge. She graduated from Bosse High School in 1946. Martha received her Bachelor of Social Work Degree from Evansville College and a Master of Social Work Degree from the University of Louisville Kent School of Social Work. She was a member of Christ Church United Church of Christ.
Martha was very involved in her local community where she served many years on the Board of Directors for Planned Parenthood. She also served on the Board of Directors for Albion Fellows Bacon Center and was a founding member of Rape Crisis Line – Albion Fellowship. Martha was an avid bridge player and enjoyed traveling all over the world.
Martha is survived by her son, Bruce Julian (Debbie); daughters, Sandy Julian and Lisa Doyle (Lester); grandchildren, Seth Bock (Debra), Connor Doyle (Sara) and Caleb Doyle; great-granddaughter, Kiera Bock; brother, Nelson Eskridge (Suzanne); and sister, Corliss Fenimore (Larry).
She is preceded in death by her parents and beloved husband of 60 years, Donald Julian, who passed away in 2017.

Ollie R. Jessie, age 88, left this world for his Heavenly home on Saturday, June 1, 2019.
Ollie was born on June 12, 1930, in Adair County, KY, to William M. and Eva R. (England) Jessie. He married Alma on September 14, 1952. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Ollie retired in 1992 from DSM Engineering Plastics after 30 years. He owned his lawnmower repair business for over 30 years.
Ollie was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a brilliant repairman who could fix just about anything. Ollie was an honest, hardworking man of great integrity. He was known as “The Lawnmower Man.†Ollie loved the Lord. He and Alma are long-time members of Vann Avenue Baptist Church.
Ollie is loved and adored beyond measure. He was a hero to Shannon and her boys. His humor, selflessness and caring nature will live on in our beautiful memories.
Ollie is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 66 years, Alma; his daughter, Shannon Curtis (Patrick); his grandsons, Zachary, Joshua, Luke, and Andrew Curtis; many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Ollie is preceded in death by his parents, William and Eva Jessie; a sister, Marion Wisdom; and a brother, Ovie Jessie.

Sharon M. (Hodgkins) Willis, age 81, of Newburgh, IN, passed away at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at The Village at Hamilton Pointe.
Sharon was born November 28, 1937, in Evansville, IN, to Joseph J. Hodgkins and Florence (Kolb) Bickmeier. She graduated from Reitz High School in 1955. Sharon was the owner and operator of Pool Depot in Olney, IL.
She is survived by her son, Keith Willis of Mahomet, IL; daughter, Kenda Adkins (Gary) of Lewisport, KY; sisters-in-law, Ida Mae Willis, Karen Willis, and Beverly Scott; brother-in-law, David Willis (Ruth).
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Gary A. Willis, who passed away in 2007; father, Joseph Hodgkins; and mother and step father, Florence and Earl Bickmeier.

The Evansville Otters found themselves in another low-scoring, tight contest against the Joliet Slammers Wednesday night, but timely hits from the Slammers put the Otters on the losing end in the middle game of the series.
After a scoreless pitcher’s duel through the first three innings, the Otters tallied the first run of the game in the fourth inning on an RBI double by Carlos Castro.
The Slammers scored the equalizer in the bottom of the fifth, but the Otters jumped back ahead in the top of the sixth with a sac fly from Mitchell Hansen that scored Ryan Long, his second run of the night.
Down 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth, the Slammers would rally back in front for good, sending six men to the plate and scoring two runs in the process to take a 3-2 lead.
London Lindley led off with a walk. After a strikeout from Chaz Meadows, Tyler Coolbaugh singled to score Lindley, tying the game at two.
Riley Krane hit into a fielder’s choice, and Brian Parreira hit the go-ahead RBI double to give the Slammers their first lead of the game, and the series.
That would end the night for Evansville starter Tyler Vail. He pitched well enough for the win, but was given the loss. Making his first start since the end of July last season, the veteran right-hander threw 5.2 innings, surrendering three runs on five hits while tossing seven strikeouts.
After a scoreless seventh, the Slammers sent six men to the plate in the bottom of the eighth, scoring an insurance run as Coolbaugh came through once again, smacking an RBI single to score Meadows, and doubling the Slammers lead 4-2.
Keegan Long earned the win for Joliet, going six innings and allowing two runs. Ryan Koziol picked up a three-inning save.
The rubber match will be tomorrow with Tyler Beardsley on the mound, who is 2-1 with a 3.17 ERA. The Slammers will send Daren Osby to the mound, who has an ERA of 2.07 and a 0-1 record.

State Rep. Holli Sullivan (R-Evansville) has been selected to co-chair a national committee focused on government efficiency.
The Council of State Governments is a region-based forum that fosters the exchange of insights and ideas to help state officials shape public policy. The CSG Future of Work Task Force was created to explore how states can best navigate the challenges and opportunities of the new economy.
Sullivan will co-chair the Smart Government Subcommittee of the Future of Work Task Force and provide new perspectives on state governance and the delivery of state services.
“Innovation is not just for the private sector, it is also crucial for state governments to adapt to the times and apply cutting-edge approaches to improve their systems and workforce,†Sullivan said. “I look forward to sharing my experiences with the committee and help to develop new ways to enhance the effectiveness of our state government.â€
Sullivan will work with other members to document best practices and examine innovative approaches to help state leaders improve the performance of state systems and engage with citizens, as well as train, attract and retain a new generation of public employees.
“The CSG Future of Work Task Force will bring together a diverse group of state officials to examine how technology creates new jobs and eliminates existing jobs, and it will share success stories and best practices and provide guidance on how states can best embrace the innovative and ever-evolving opportunities in the new economy,†said CSG Executive Director David Adkins.
