What: Fundraising night with the Evansville Otters

When: Tuesday, June 11, 2019- The baseball game begins at 6:35pm

Why: Carver Community Organization is partnering with the Evansville Otters by fundraising in support of Carver’s mission to provide unique programs in a safe environment that teaches respect for self, others, and the community. The community can support both Carver and the Otters by purchasing a $5 ticket and enjoying an evening of local baseball. Carver will also be excepting donations at a table near the entrance. Obituary for Ursula Yolanda Smith

Ursula Yolanda Smith, daughter of Georgia Anderson and Sam Coley, was born on December 31, 1968 in Chicago, Illinois. She departed her earthly home for her eternal home on Wednesday May 22, 2019.
Ursula married her loving husband Tommy on September 4, 2010. She confessed Christ in Canton Miss., later joined Greater St. James Missionary Baptist Church. She graduated from Central High School in 1986 where she was active in basketball and track. She also attended Jackson State University for 2 years.Ursula helped raise many children while owning two daycare centers: Lovey Dovey Childcare and Kiddie College. She was the founder of Boom Squad Glitterettes and Tri-State Glitter Dance teams.

Ursula was preceded in death by her daughter, Shaunice Anderson; and her grandmothers, Sallie Anderson and Luginia Watkins.

She is survived by her husband, Tommy Smith; mother, Georgia Anderson; children: Le’Aunae Anderson, Uarnelius Anderson, Bryanta Foreman, Tommy Smith Jr., LaTasha Smith; sisters: Rochelle (Milton) Lewis, Maxine Anderson and Gloria Smith; brothers: Darryl Anderson, Tyrone Mason, and Marvin (Mattie) Smith; 9 grandchildren; aunt, Delores Anderson; uncles, Charlie Anderson and Thomas (Charlotte) Anderson; a host of special nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends: Shannon Reed, Sylvia
King, LaDonna Compton, Parvetta Washington and Margaret Harris.

She will be remembered for her infectious laughter and love that she had for each person she met.

 Robert “Bobby” Roberts

On May 26, 2019 Robert Lowell Roberts,83, Captain USAF Retired, call sign “Tache”, answered the Lord’s call to Eternal Rest at 10:20 am at Bethany House (Hospice) in Auburn, AL. He was a native of Evansville and Princeton Indiana. He will be buried next to his parents, Luther H. and Musetta Roberts in Sand Hill Cemetery. He was also preceded in death by his older brother Luther A. (April 2002), his younger brother David M. (Oct 1993), grandparents Georgia and Henry Lyles and granddaughter Jessica Willis. Daddy was the last of his immediate family. 

Bobby was born Dec. 19, 1935. As a boy Bobby loved spending summers on his grandparent’s farm in Princeton. He and his brothers helped sell produce at the roadside vegetable stand. Bobby graduated Lincoln High School Evansville, IN and went on to graduate Tuskegee Institute, Tuskegee, AL, May 1958, B.S. in Architecture and excelled in Air Force ROTC. While studying at Tuskegee Bobby met and married Earnestine Hill of Auburn, AL. Robert was commissioned into the Air Force in September 1958 and retired as Captain in 1979. Robert was a dedicated Air Force serviceman. In addition to “Tache”, other call signs were “Bobby” “Bob” “Mr. Bob”. He went on to be very active in civilian life with various organizations.

Obituary for Royster Maynard Christian Jr.

Royster Maynard Christian, Jr., lovingly known as “Boo,” gave up his spirit to go home and be with our Lord on May 29, 2019 at the age of 53, in his hometown of Evansville, IN. Born to parents, Ethel May and Royster Maynard Christian, Sr. on December 8, 1965, Boo was the baby brother of the family and will be missed dearly.

Left to cherish memories of him and his beautiful smile are his two sisters: Cynthia Christian and Shelia Starling; four brothers: Warren Christian, Darryl Christian, Myron Christian, and Jeffery Jackson; and a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins.

A celebration of life and homegoing service will be held Friday, June 7, 2019 at 11:30am at Mason Brothers Memorial Chapel, 1001 Lincoln Avenue, Evansville IN. A Wake Service will be Thursday, June 6, 2019 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at the funeral home. Burial and repass will follow.
