Obituary for Lucille Grace (Schofield) Hayes

Lucille Grace (Schofield) Hayes, 78, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Linda E. White Hospice House. Lucille was born October 21, 1940 in Evansville to the late Gilbert and Stella (Norvell) Schofield.
Lucille graduated from Central High School in 1958. Her first “Real” job was at Smith and Butterfield. She also was as an X-Ray technician and worked at Sears Dept. Store in the late 60s through the early 70s (which was her favorite job!). After, she became a real estate agent for HomeHunters and Town & Country Real Estate; which she made, the highest score on the real estate exam, at the time taken. She went on to work for PIP Printing, and then became the owner and operator of The Copy Shop for 10 years. Lucille was a remarkable woman and a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who was known for her laugh, voice, enthusiasm, and smile. She was loved and a 2nd mom and grandma to many. Late in life she was known only as “Grandma”.
She and her husband, David, were married for almost 60 years on July 23, 1959. They enjoyed listening and singing music together, and they knew “all” of the words! She was thrilled to go to Disney World with her family and also cherished the times she traveled to the Bahamas and Puerto Rico with her husband. She also enjoyed cooking delicious meals, decorating her home, and flowers. She had a great memory and could remember almost every detail of her wonderful childhood and life. Some of her last great memories she was very grateful for were that she was able to see her 3 great grandbabies be born and to hold and love them and see her granddaughter get married.
She truly enjoyed her life, accomplishments, and family. She said that she did not want a funeral but a Celebration of Life!
Lucille is survived by her husband, David Hayes, who was employed by Kreiger and Ragsdale Printing Corporation; daughter, Debbie (Danny) Oldham; son, Daniel Hayes and his former wife, Angela Hayes; grandchildren, Drake (Kaitlyn) Oldham, and Lexie (Zack) Waggoner, and Ben Hayes (Kimber), and Heather Hayes (Jesse); great grandsons, Oak, Hank, and Dallas Oldham; and brother, Carl Schofield.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Hayes and his longtime girlfriend, Stacy Denton; sisters, Mary Anna Spangler, Thelma Kissel, and Dorothy Patton; and brother, Ralph Schofield.
