Troopers Ramp Up Enforcement Efforts In Support of Indiana’s Stop Arm Violation Enforcement Program

0
In alignment with Governor Holcomb’s backing of a special project involving school bus and school zone safety, Indiana State Troopers from the Fort Wayne Post are hitting the roads throughout Northeast Indiana to target and take enforcement action on all observed school bus stop arm violations.

The Stop Arm Violation Enforcement Program (SAVE) goal is an effort to support and provide safe transportation routes to and from school for school children of all ages in Indiana. This program is intended to prevent violations through High Visibility Enforcement (HVE) by following school bus routes to provide on the spot enforcement action for observed violations. The program provides for mobilization periods following absence of school buses from roadways due to scheduled student breaks such as: Summer Break, Fall Break, Winter Break and Spring Break. The current operational period for Project SAVE runs from August 1, 2019 through September 15, 2019.

State Troopers from the Fort Wayne Post would remind and encourage all motorists to be observant, mindful, and cautious for the presence of school children each day during your morning and afternoon commutes. Where there is a school bus present, chances are very likely that there are also children present; and children can be unpredictable. Do your part to ensure safer roadways for all this school year, and hopefully we won’t have to do ours!

*For the safety of all school age children in your area, please take a few minutes to review and understand the “School Bus Stop Arm Rules of the Road” as shown in the diagram below.  Let’s make the 2019/2020 school year safe and crash free.
