Lawrence  D. “Larry”  Scholl

Lawrence  D. “Larry”  Scholl, age 82, of Newburgh, IN, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2019, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital.

Larry was born April 11, 1937, in Princeton IN, to William T. and Gladys V. (Caubble) Scholl. He graduated from Bosse High School. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the Evansville Community and Southwest Behavioral for walking through this journey with us.

Larry is survived by his brothers, Dr. Thomas (Anita) Scholl of Newburgh IN and Kenneth Nin’a) Scholl of St. Louis MO; and nephew Thomas (Cindy) Scholl of Newburgh IN.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, William and Gladys Scholl; brother, Dr. William Scholl of Aroura CO.

There will be no Funeral Services and Burial will be Private.

Lori Ellen Wilson-Orange, age 56, of Evansville, IN, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2019.

Lori was born June 6, 1963, in Lynwood, CA, to John and Mary Ellen (Stewart) Skinner. She was an avid crafter who also enjoyed gardening and home decorating. Lori especially loved spending time with her roommate and best friend, her dog Zili.

Lori is survived by her parents, John Skinner (Lynn) and Mary Ellen Skinner; son, Zackary Wilson; 2 grandchildren, Zarek and Azalain; siblings, Juli Gardner (Mike), Staci Eddington, Curtis Skinner (Karen), Vicky Barry (Tony), Alan Skinner (Patricia), Matthew Treado (Libby) and Doreen Miles (Chris) and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Orange; and first husband, Wade Wilson.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, July 15, 2019 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor Mike Deeg and Pastor Dave Schwambach officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery.

Veda B. Epley, age 75, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 4:45 a.m. on Monday, July 8, 2019.

Veda was born January 6, 1944, in Evansville, IN to Roy and Violet “Eloise” (Meredith) Smith. She was a lifelong member of Vann Avenue Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and worked in the church office. Veda was a homemaker. Throughout her life, Veda was an avid bowler, loved attending concerts and shopping at Kohl’s. She also enjoyed spending time with her family.

Veda is survived by her husband of 58 years, Morris Epley; daughter, Gilna Gearhart (John); son, Brent Epley; grandchildren, Aaron Gearhart, Jordan Gearhart and Evelyn “Evie” Epley; brother, Ray Smith (Linda); sister, Gilna Brownfield; niece, Vicky Hames (Skip); and great niece, Meredith Hames along with several other nieces and nephews.

Veda is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Gary Smith.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Bryan Laura and his staff as well as the staff from Heart to Heart Hospice for their care and compassion.

Rosalyn Joyce “Rosie” (Flittner) Denton

Rosalyn Joyce “Rosie” (Flittner) Denton, age 91, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 7, 2019, at home.

Rosie was born August 30, 1927, in Evansville, IN, to Eline (Cummans) Flittner. She graduated from Reitz High School in 1945 and was the Homecoming Queen. Rosie was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and most recently attended American Baptist East Church. She and her husband, Bill, were the owners and operators of J. F. Denton Monument Company. Bill’s grandfather founded the company in the early 1900s, and it was one of Evansville’s oldest family run businesses. Rosie was a member and past president of Tri Kappa Sorority. She was an avid painter having founded the art group at Trinity United Methodist and was most recently part of the painting group associated with American Baptist East Church.

Rosie is survived by her son, Bill Denton, Jr. of Indianapolis, IN; and granddaughters, Danielle Denton of Chicago, IL, and Rachel Denton of Indianapolis, IN.

Rosie is preceded in death by her mother, Eline Flittner; and beloved husband of 38 years, William “Bill” Denton, Sr.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville. Burial will be Private in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Trent Douglas Brown, age 56, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 3:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 4, 2019, at home.

Trent was born June 10, 1963, in Evansville, IN, to John Ray and Mary Louella (Melvin) Brown. He graduated from Central High School. Trent loved cooking and was a chef at Bob Evans for over 25 years. He most recently worked as the chef at Savannah’s. Trent also enjoyed fishing and shooting.

Trent is survived by his brother, Mike Brown, Daniel Brown, and Scott Brown (Kerri); and sisters, Lynn Brown and Susan Hodges.

Trent is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John Ray Brown, Jr., Ron Lee Brown, Jeffrey Allen Brown, and infant brother, Mark Brown; and sisters, Beverly Jean Orth, Carolyn Sue Brown, and Nancy Brown.

Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at Locust Hill Cemetery, 3800 Kratzville Road, Evansville.

Elberfeld, Ind. –  Patty Sue Englehardt, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2019 at home. She was born on July 27, 1954 in Evansville to the late Wayne Edward and Ruby Eileen (Clark) Harvey. She graduated from Tecumseh High School and Lockyear Business College. She worked many years developing photos for Kodak.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Carol (Harvey) Parker. Patty is survived by her husband of 44 years, Mark A. Englehardt; brother, Mike Harvey; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 6 p.m., Sunday, June 23, 2019 with visitation beginning at 2 p.m. at Titzer Family Funeral Homes ~ Volkman Chapel, 210 W. Second Street, Elberfeld Ind. Rev. Steve Oeth will officiate.

Janet M. Johnson, 89, of Newburgh, IN passed away, Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at Cypress Grove Rehabilitation Center.  She was born in Evansville on March 24, 1930 to the late Dr. Harry C. Johnson and Louise (Andres) Johnson.

She is survived by her sister, Jean Johnson Hedge Goelzhauser; four nieces, Mimi Scheessele (Damien) of Newburgh, IN, Louise Hauert (Bob) of Lilburn, GA, Lisa Popham (Joe) of Evansville, IN, Christine Hasler (Dennis) of Little Rock, AR, and four nephews, Bill Hedge (Kathy) of Goodyear, AZ, Tim Goelzhauser (Connie) of Newburgh, IN, Tom Goelzhauser (Sabrina) of Newburgh, IN, Mike Goelzhauser (Kate) of Newburgh, IN.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Janet was a resident of St. Coletta in Jefferson, WI for 60 plus years, where she enjoyed life with those who had similar needs to her own.  She then came home to Newburgh, IN,  in 2005 to live the remainder of her yeas at Cypress Grove Rehabilitation Center.  She enjoyed traveling, crafts, and country music.

Janet’s family wishes to express their sincerest gratitude to the staff at Cypress Grove Rehabilitation Center for the many years of care and well being that was provided to her.

Raymond August “Ray” Wessel, 76, of Evansville, IN, passed away Monday, July 8, 2019 at Holiday Health Care Heritage Center.  He was born December 22, 1942 in Evansville to the late Carl Gottlieb and Adelaide Barbara (Coudret) Wessel.

Ray worked at Wessel’s Market as a butcher starting in 1958 then went on to Schnuck’s as a baker until 2017.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Frances Wessel; son, Mark Raymond Wessel; and grandson, Chase August Wessel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m., Friday, July 12, 2019 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 918 W Mill Rd., Evansville, IN.  Father Jason Gries will officiate and burial will follow in St. Rupert’s Cemetery, Red Brush.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Dan Dunlap; children, Dan W. Dunlap (Kathie), Brenda Crays (Ken); 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and brother, Ron Slover.

Obituary Of Thomas E. “Tom” Simpson

On Tuesday July 2, 2019, Thomas E. “Tom” Simpson, loving husband, passed away at the age of 69 at his home in Newburgh, IN. He was born on March 23, 1950 in Blackford, Kentucky.

Tom graduated from Boonville High School and entered the army serving in Vietnam and South Korea. Following his military service, he studied business earning his Associate degree. He retired after thirty-three years from the Indiana State Board of Accounts. He married Mary J. (Lane) Baker in 1981. Tom loved to travel and visited all fifty states as well as many countries throughout the world. He was an avid baseball fan and loved playing fantasy baseball every year with his best baseball buddies. Tom was devoted to the youth in the Newburgh community touching many lives through coaching baseball, football and basketball.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Tom is survived by his wife, Mary; stepsons, Greg Baker (Jill) of Lake Orion, MI and Scott Baker (Nina) of Lafayette CO; five step-grandchildren; and his half-brother, Ken Collins, Jacksonville, FL.

We are thankful for the loving caregivers from Heart to Heart Hospice who journeyed with us in Tom’s last chapter on earth.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2019, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, officiated by Pastor Jerry Daniels, Spiritual Care Coordinator at Heart to Heart Hospice. Friends may visit Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
