Obituary Of Vivian Irene (Walts) Kays

Vivian Irene (Walts) Kays, age 96, of Evansville, IN, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2019.

Vivian was born May 20, 1923, in Pike County, IN, to Howard A. Walts and Opal (Sumner) Walts Western. She was a 1941 graduate of Hazelton High School and a graduate of Lockyear’s Business College. Vivian was a member of St. Johns East United Church of Christ. She worked as a Secretary at Servel, as a Court Reporter in Pike County Circuit Court for Judge Lester Nixon, and as a Secretary for the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation at Dexter Elementary School for 42 years. Vivian enjoyed cooking, gardening, growing beautiful flowers, playing Bunco and Bridge, sewing, and quilting.

Vivian is survived by her daughters, Jane LaMar (Dennis) of Indianapolis, IN, and Kathryn Stewart (Andy) of Evansville, IN; daughter-in-law, Joan Adler Kays of Haubstadt, IN; 6 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.

Vivian is preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband of 24 years, Virgil Kays, who passed away in 1972; son, Dr. Howard W. Kays (1951-1996); and daughter, Barbara Kays McCarty (1954-2016).

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor Kris Holzmeyer officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Hills Cemetery in Petersburg, IN.

Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time, Thursday, August 29, 2019 at BOONE FUNERAL HOME EAST CHAPEL.

Obituary Of Robert Thomas Burns

Robert Thomas Burns, 74, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2019. He was born on December 23, 1944 in Evansville, Indiana to the late Rex and Arlene Burns. The majority of his life, he was raised by his loving step-father, Robert O. Glenn, and he was preceded in death by his first wife, Glenda J. (McCoy) Burns.

Blessed are we who had the fortune of knowing such a wonderful man who touched so many lives with his wisdom, humility, humor, kindness and warmth. He was truly loved by so many; what a rich man he was, who bestowed his love to all who knew him. Robert was above all, a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Robert was affectionately known by many names, “Bob,” “Bobby,” “Pops,” “Grandad,” “Papaw,” and “Papaw Bobby.”

Bobby graduated from North High School in 1963 and was an ardent member of the ’63 North reunion group. He went on to Graceland University and graduated as a watchmaker from Purdue University. He was the preeminent watchmaker in Evansville for over 50 years, being the watchmaker that even the local jewelry stores went to when they needed watches repaired. He worked for Deter’s Jewelers, Elsfelder’s, Gem Craft and from home for the last 10 years.

Robert was a firm believer in the Lord. He was a priest and devout member of the Community of Christ Church his whole life. He was a prominent and respected figure in the National Modena Pigeon Club of Evansville and was known as a national breeder. Robert was an avid sports fan, especially of the Colts, Redskins and Purdue Boilermakers. He was a huge fan of westerns, war films and Louis L’Amour books. Robert loved horses and frequently drew them for his family with delight.

He is survived by his soulmate of 44 years, Mary Willis Burns; son, David Burns (Sue); son, Don Burns (Hiromi); son, Darrin Burns (Kristen); daughter, Monica Willis (Angela); son, Tim Willis (Becky); son, Jim Willis; grandchildren, Ben, Christie, Shoel, Lyon, Emma, Aiden, Abigale, Kaitlyn and Trevor; great-grandchildren, Jonathen, Jocelyn, Journey, David, Rebekah, Freya, Hope and Mya; brother, Rex Burns II (Janice); and nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 30, 2019, 12:00 p.m. at Alexander East Chapel with Elder Donald Shanks officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit Thursday 5:00-8:00 p.m. and 11:00 a.m. until service time on Friday, at the funeral home.

OBITUARY OF LOUANNE WARD

Louanne Ward, 65, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2019 at her home. She was born on September 10, 1953 in Hartford City, Indiana.

She retired after working for the United States Postal Service for 20 years. Louanne enjoyed spending time with her family in Daytona Beach, Florida, cooking and playing bingo.

Louanne was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Ward; parents, Guy and Marjorie Satterfield; and her brother, Michael W. Satterfield.

She is survived by her daughter, Angela Reising (Nathan); sons, Chris Staley (Jodi) and Jay Ward (Amy); grandchildren, Tyler Staley, Gabe Ward, Reese Ward, Nolan Reising, Easton Reising and Wyatt Staley; sisters, Linda Sue Smith and Cathy Houchin (Nick); and nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Alexander East Chapel with Celebrant, Carrie Hatchett officiating. Burial will follow at Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Charlotte Blythe, 49, of Evansville, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2019, at her home. She was born on June 10, 1970, in Little Rock, Arkansas.

She was an amazing mother and a selfless, single parent who drew upon her strength and independence to provide for her children. Charlotte was a devoted friend, her easy going and welcoming nature earned her many friends. She was a lover of animals. Charlotte had a beautiful heart, always wanting to help others. She loved watching Law and Order, was a movie fanatic and loved flowers. Charlotte was a strong believer in Christianity.

Charlotte is survived by her children, Jullian Battley and Mary Blythe.

Funeral Services will be held 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at Alexander East Chapel. Friends may visit from 3-5pm at the funeral home.

Arrangements are pending.

Saturation Patrol in Vincennes Area Nets Several Arrests

Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Enforcement Campaign

Knox County – Sunday evening between 5:00 – 10:00 p.m., Vincennes Police, Knox County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police conducted a joint saturation patrol targeting dangerous and impaired drivers in the Vincennes area. Officers issued 39 traffic tickets, 99 warnings and arrested five individuals for various criminal charges:

Arrest Information by Indiana State Police:

At approximately 9:30 p.m., Master Trooper Gary Goodman was patrolling US 41 north of Vincennes when he stopped the driver of a 2003 Toyota for a license plate violation. The driver initially provided false information about his identity. Trooper Goodman later identified the driver as Juan Camaeillo, 27, of Vincennes. A Vincennes Police K-9 arrived and alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle. During a search officers found methamphetamine and a used syringe. Camaeillo was arrested and taken to the Knox County Jail where he is currently being held on bond.
