IS IT TRUE JUNE 10, 2020 Stimilus checks

3

IS IT TRUE the COVID-19 Virus pandemic has given our elected officials the excuse to raise our 2021 tax increases?

IS IT TRUE we hope that in the future our elected officials will not vote on any ordinances (unless its an emergency) that’s not listed on their official agenda because it doesn’t allow public input? …when they vote on non-agenda items it’s isn’t “transparent” but also doesn’t represent “good public policy” practices?

IS IT TRUE that last Saturday protest was “peaceful” and made Evansville look very positive in the midst of all the national negativity?…that Evansville Mayor Winnecke, Police Chief Billy Bolin, and Council President Alex Burton are looking very good after the last weekend after by working together in promoting peaceful protests in Evansville?
IS IT TRUE we been told that right after County Commissioner candidate Zac Rascher (R) lost his bid to be a delegate at the Indiana Republican Convention, local GOP Chairman appointed him to be a delegate?…that Zac’s wife Natalie was elected as a delegate at the Indiana State Republican Convention?
IS IT TRUE that the Vanderburgh County Commissioners continues to practice social distancing and wore masks at the yesterdays Commission meeting?
IS IT TRUE that members of the Evansville  City Council did an 8 minute and 46 second moment of silence in honor of George Floyd during recent meeting?… that this gesture was recognized by many statewide news and media outlets?
IS IT TRUE we are told that Indiana State Representative  77, Ryan Hatfield (D), will have an opponent in this coming fall election?…that the local GOP is holding a political caucus on Saturday, June 27, 2020, to select a candidate to run against Mr. Hatfield?…we been told that the odds on favorite to win this political caucus will be a former Mayoral candidate, Preacher Steve Ary?
IS IT TRUE that many people have received their $1,200 stimulus checks and the money is long gone? …that good-paying jobs are far and in between? …when people get desperate they will do desperate things? …desperation is caused by loss of employment, not able to pay your water bill, gas, and electric bills, mobile phone bill, can’t pay your rent or mortgage payments, experiencing a medical issue, going through a divorce, can’t buy food or medicine, or can’t make your car payment?

they need to focus on better ways to help the people living in that area?  …good-paying jobs, reliable public transportation, alcohol, and drug counseling, improving the crime rate, apply for additional Federal and State funds to build more affordable single-family housing, help to improve daycare services, find a developer to build a quality grocery store, and help with ways to improve healthcare offerings to people living in that area?

EPA Prepares for 2020 Hurricane Season Amid COVID-19

0
As the nation continues to respond to and recover from coronavirus (COVID-19), Americans should also prepare for the upcoming hurricane season, which is forecasted to be especially active this year. With hurricane season beginning on June 1, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is assuring the public that the agency maintains its readiness to prepare for and respond to hurricanes amid the pandemic.

“As the country reopens, we’re facing an already active 2020 hurricane season. The Trump EPA stands ready to respond to hurricanes in a COVID-19 environment,” said EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler. “In light of Tropic Storm Cristobal making landfall in Louisiana this past weekend, it is important for families to think about their emergency plans now and prepare – including where and how to safely evacuate if needed. Our agency’s response to natural disasters is one of the many ways we continue to protect human health and the environment from coast to coast.”

EPA has a major role in working with federal, tribal, state, and local government partners to help communities prepare for and respond to hurricanes and other natural disasters. To adapt its preparedness and response efforts amid COVID-19, the agency will follow FEMA’s “COVID-19 Pandemic Operational Guidance for the 2020 Hurricane Season” and any relevant EPA guidance.

The agency performs pre-landfall assessments of Superfund sites and major industrial facilities to identify potential impacts and countermeasures. EPA recently issued alerts to remind facility operators of certain requirements that call for preventing, minimizing, and reporting chemical releases due to hazardous weather. Additionally, EPA supports responses before, during, and after a hurricane by conducting air monitoring, ensuring the continued operation of drinking water and wastewater systems, and managing debris and impacted infrastructure.

It is crucial for the public to prepare for hurricanes in advance, especially since COVID-19 may potentially impact hurricane planning and preparedness. Individuals should add face coverings and hand sanitizer to emergency supply kits to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Additionally, the public should re-evaluate their household evacuation and sheltering plans, ensuring the practice of social distancing and other safety measures when enacting plans. The most important thing is safety and following local officials’ guidance on evacuation, including recommendations to relocate to an inland shelter.

“In any emergency situation, local officials’ number one job is to protect citizens by weighing the risks and issuing guidance accordingly,” added Wheeler. “If evacuation orders are issued, then you should evacuate and seek shelter – wearing PPE, washing or sanitizing hands, and social distancing to the highest degree possible.”

Always refer to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and FEMA for the most up-to-date guidance on COVID-19 and hurricane preparedness.

NEW MURAL TO BRIGHTEN A GROWING AND VIBRANT DOWNTOWN EVANSVILLE, INDIANA

NEW MURAL TO BRIGHTEN A GROWING AND VIBRANT DOWNTOWN EVANSVILLE, INDIANA

Human Sized Interactive Angel Wings mural to grace the wall at 425 Main Street

EVANSVILLE, INDIANA, June 5, 2020] — Internationally recognized mural artist Colette Miller will be bringing her Global Angel Wings Project to Evansville this month.  She will be in town from June 16-18 to paint a custom-designed pair of angel wings on the side of the building located at 425 Main Street in downtown Evansville.  Colette created the Global Angel Wings Project in 2012, in the streets of Los Angeles, to remind humanity that we are the angels of this earth.

The first pair of wings painted in the arts district of downtown Los Angeles was spontaneous street art, but the response was natural, immediate, and enormous – from people of all sorts and backgrounds.  In the years since, Colette has painted wings in major U.S. cities and airports such as LAX, Chicago O’Hare and Newark Liberty International, and globally in places like Kenya, Australia, England, Japan, France, Cuba, China, and even on the glass of the observatory atop the world’s tallest building in Dubai.  The angel wings allow individuals to become part of the artwork by photographing themselves wearing the wings and then sharing the pictures of themselves on social media.  Her wings are one of, if not the most, recognizable images on social media.

The movement to bring the Global Angel Wings Project to Evansville was started over a year ago by local intellectual property attorney Rick Martin, who became familiar with the project through his sister Anne and her husband Gregory Clewlow who own/operate Sugar Press Art in Los Angeles, CA.  Sugar Press Art (sugarpressart.com) is the exclusive distributor of prints of a number of Colette’s pieces, including several different angel wings.  Rick Martin’s law firm, Martin IP Law Group, located in downtown Evansville, has worked with Colette to register and protect copyrights on her angel wing works.

When public funding was determined to be unavailable for the project, with the assistance of the Arts Council of Southwestern Indiana, Martin turned to local patrons to raise the funds to make the project a reality.  “We quite literally turned to “angel investors” in the local community to make this happen,” Martin said.  “Raising the money was really not too difficult.  When I told people what we were trying to do, and showed them examples of Colette’s work, they were more than happy to open their wallets and help out.  The beauty and quality of her work and the story behind it made it easy.”

The mural will be painted over the course of three days – June 16, 17, and 18.  Members of the public are invited to come by and watch as this great addition to downtown Evansville takes shape.  And after it is complete, people will be able to become part of the artwork for years to come.

If you would like more information about this topic, please call Rick Martin at (812) 449-3274 or email rick@ipsolutionslaw.com.

Right Jab And Middle Jab And Left Jab” June 10, 2020

The majority of our “IS IT TRUE” columns are about local or state issues, so we have decided to give our more opinionated readers exclusive access to our newly created “LEFT JAB and Middle Jab and RIGHT JAB”  column. They now have this post to exclusively discuss national or world issues that they feel passionate about.
We shall be posting the “LEFT JAB” AND “MIDDLE JAB” AND “RIGHT JAB” several times a week.  Oh, “LEFT JAB” is a liberal view, “MIDDLE JAB” is the libertarian view and the “RIGHT JAB is representative of the more conservative views. Also, any reader who would like to react to the written comments in this column is free to do so.
