A female victim was later found in the area with a gunshot wound to her lower left leg. She was transported to the hospital by an ambulance.Â
Information from the victim was very limited and no arrests have been made at this time. The Evansville Police Department’s Detective Office is asking that anyone who might have knowledge of this case to call 812-436-7979 or 1-800-78-Crime.

(Wayne Parke is the current Chairman of the Vanderburgh County Republican Party and has remained silent about his intentions to seek another term as the local GOP party Chairmen)Â
October 1, 2020
Dear Fellow Republicans;
After the November 3rd elections, I’m going to announce my intention to run for Vanderburgh County Republican Party Chairman this coming Spring 2021!
I have secured the support of a number of high-profile Republicans on the city, county, and state levels.
I feel my skill sets and experience would fit the position well. I further believe that in an all-volunteer organization that it’s a bottom-up leadership scenario, meaning I would serve and answer to all good Republicans and PC’s.
Now, more than ever, we need to be a county party that is exciting, unified and something younger folks want to be apart of.
I would ensure we attract qualified, hard-working candidates, maintain Republican values, and raise the needed funding to operate our party.
Here are a few of my credentials and qualifications in case you are interested:
Married to Ashley, a cardiac Nurse Practitioner at St. Vincent, and father to Will, 23, and Addie 10.
A lifelong Northern Vanderburgh County resident. Central High School 88’ and the University of Kentucky 92’
Managing Partner at Hammer Property Group, a real estate investment company with substantial holdings in Vanderburgh and Warrick Counties, Indiana. Managing Partner at Roca Bar North, a McCutchanville restaurant and bar.
Employed part-time as the United States Senate Senator Mike Braun (R-IN) Evansville Area Representative.
Involved with numerous organizations and efforts including Winnecke for Mayor, FeedEvansville, Mickey’s Kingdom, Ziemer Society of St. Vincent, St. Ben’s Catholic Church, Southwest Indiana Chamber, the Vanderburgh County COVID-19 Task Force, A Hundred Guys Who Cook, A Hundred Guys Who Care. A community emcee for the St. Ben’s Mardi Gras Gala, the Multiple Sclerosis Gala, YWCA Legacy of Style, and Wesselman Woods Wandering Owl event.
As well as a founding member of Evansville’s Future PAC, the primary fundraising vehicle that supports Vanderburgh County Republican candidates.
Received the 2019 “Community Service Award” at the City-County Observer Awards Luncheon.
Finally, I hope I can count on your support and would appreciate any immediate feedback or thoughts you might have!
Regards,
Steve Hammer
Jennifer Jean Rayburn was born on November 10, 1948, in Evansville, Indiana. She was a devoted daughter to the late Charles Rayburn and Jean Bartholome Rayburn. She attended Holy Rosary Catholic grade school and graduated from Reitz Memorial High School in 1966.
She met the love of her life, Michael Francis Blake, at Holy Rosary Church in August of 1971. They married on February 17th, 1973, at St. Ben’s Catholic Church. Thus, began her career of 47 years as the ultimate caretaker. The true Matriarch of the Blake Family, Jenny’s love and devotion to their Father was the greatest gift she gave her children. Her incredible faith guided her through life as a truly “good and faithful servant.â€
Fiercely loyal and protective of her family and friends, everyone gravitated to Jenny’s listening ear. Her wisdom and insight, her darling “accent†and unending curiosity about whoever was lucky enough to be on the other side of the conversation with her was a gift. Her empathy and unconditional love and acceptance made her everyone’s favorite.
She was an avid reader, a true sports fan, and loved her social media. On Sundays after mass, you could count on her and Mike being glued to the TV watching football, specifically Tom Brady. She was the ultimate cheerleader for her children, whichever team they were playing or coaching for. She carried that on for her grandchildren, making every game she could or following online. She mastered the art of Twitter to stay up to date on all their games, and you could always count on a tweet or text win or lose, about how good you looked on the sideline or how well you played.
Jenny is survived by her husband, Mike, and their four children and their spouses. Christine and Jeff Utzinger, of Carmel, IN; Michael and Casey Blake, Evansville, IN; Billy and Beth Blake, Fishers, IN; and Patrick and Diana Blake, Richmond, KY. “Mimi†was the light of her nine grandchildren, Jennifer, Jeffrey, and George Utzinger; Millie, Mick, and Tommy Blake; and Ella, Will, and Charlie Blake and was each of their biggest fans.
She is also survived by her three incredible brothers, who dearly loved her and whom she adored, Chuck and Sheila Rayburn, Des Moines, IA; Mike and Sue Rayburn, Evansville, IN; and Pat and Kerrye Rayburn, Evansville, IN. She cherished the role of being “Aunt Jenny†to all her Rayburn nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by four sisters in law: Mary Catherine and (Jim) Stock, Naperville, IL; Pat and (Tom) Blake, Phoenix, AZ; Mary and (George) Blake, Western Springs, IL; and Pat and (Bill) Blake, Willow Springs, IL; and nineteen nieces and nephews.
