UPDATE ON TABULATION OF VOTES
The Vanderburgh County Election Board reports that the approximately
15,000 mail-in absentee ballots have been reviewed and are in the process of being
tabulated. The approximately 40,000 in-person ballots from the early vote centers
are still in the process of being reviewed and prepared for tabulation. A large
number of the ballots from the early vote center at Old National Events Plaza have
been prepared for tabulation tomorrow. The remaining early vote centers’ ballots
will be reviewed and tabulated commencing at 7:00 a.m. tomorrow. It is
anticipated that the preliminary, unofficial tabulation of in-person ballots cast on
Election Day, as well as the absentee mail-in ballots, will be completed this
evening.
This was the first election in Vanderburgh County with the new State
mandated voting equipment that used paper ballots instead of electronic votes for
early voting. The new voting equipment and the record voter turnout did not allow
the Election Board to total the absentee and early voting today as was possible on
Election Night with the prior election equipment.
