“Left Jab†And “Middle Jab†And “Right Jab†November 24, 2020
“Right Jab And Middle Jab And Left Jabâ€Â was created because we have a couple of commenters that post on a daily basis either in our “IS IT TRUE†or “Readers Forumâ€Â columns concerning National or International issues.
The majority of our “IS IT TRUE†columns are about local or state issues, so we have decided to give our more opinionated readers exclusive access to our newly created “LEFT JAB and Middle Jab and RIGHT JAB† column. They now have this post to exclusively discuss national or world issues that they feel passionate about.
We shall be posting the “LEFT JAB†AND “MIDDLE JAB†AND “RIGHT JABâ€Â several times a week.  Oh, “LEFT JAB†is a liberal view, “MIDDLE JAB†is the libertarian view and the “RIGHT JAB is representative of the more conservative views. Also, any reader who would like to react to the written comments in this column is free to do so.

The Eagles received 66 points and 10 first-place votes to edge Lewis, which snared five first-place votes for 57 points. Truman State was picked to win the Central Division and Drury was predicted to win the West Division.
• Speaking of Divisions. The GLVC is going to be split into divisions for the first time since 2017-18, a year that saw the Eagles win their second straight East Division title. The GLVC Tournament field will still be determined via the GLVC Points Rating System, with the top eight teams earning a spot in the eight-team field.
• What about the GLVC Tournament? Another change coming to the 2020-21 season is the GLVC Tournament location. The 2021 GLVC Tournament is going to campus sites, with seeds 1-4 hosting first-round games on March 2. The highest remaining seed will then host the semifinals and championship March 6-7.
• Coming back? USI returns seven players and three starters from a team that went 18-9 overall, 14-6 in the GLVC, and qualified for the NCAA II Tournament. The Eagles finished second in the GLVC Points Rating System a year ago, earning them the second seed in the 2020 GLVC Tournament.
• Returning leaders. Senior guard Emma DeHart (Indianapolis, Indiana) and sophomore forward Hannah Haithcock (Washington Courthouse, Ohio) return to lead the Eagles in 2020-21. DeHart averaged 11.1 points and 3.5 rebounds per game in 2019-20, Haithcock averaged 11.0 points and 5.1 rebounds per contest a year ago. Junior forward Ashlynn Brown (Perrysburg, Ohio) chipped in 6.4 points and a team-high 5.7 rebounds per appearance last season.

Otters sign outfielder Amicangelo; send Cullen to the Railcats
The Evansville Otters have signed outfielder and former University of South Carolina Gamecock Anthony Amicangelo to a contract for the 2021 season.
Amicangelo is from Bremerton, Wash. and heads into his first professional season.
“I am very excited to start my professional career and thankful to the Otters for giving me the opportunity,†Amicangelo said. “I want to show the organization, teammates, and fans that I am a hard worker. I want to show that I take care of my business on and off the field.â€
“I want to play in Major League Baseball someday, and I have been fortunate enough to see up close what it takes to get there. I want to prove I belong and can help us win games.â€
In his latest baseball season, Amicangelo is coming off a 2020 spring season at the University of South Carolina, where he made five starts in 14 games played before the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In those 14 games, Amicangelo batted .280 with three doubles and four runs in 25 plate appearances.
“I am looking forward to playing baseball again,†Amicangelo said. “Once the season starts in 2021 that will be 13 months since the last competitive game I participated in. This game doesn’t last forever and I took my last at-bat of the season this past year without knowing it at the time, so I’ll try to live in the moment more and enjoy the game.â€
“I took my last competitive at-bat in early March and shortly after that our entire season was canceled. I plan on training at Driveline in preparation for the season shortly after the new year. I have learned how to make the most out of what resources I have, and I will be ready to take the field come season time.â€
He spent his sophomore season at Johnson County CC and freshman year at Shoreline CC.
While playing at Johnson County CC, Amicangelo earned NJCAA All-America first team, set a school record with 91 hits in 2019, and had a 24-game hit streak during the middle of the season.
One interesting fact about Amicangelo is that he owns his own mobile auto detailing business.
Meanwhile, the Otters have also sent outfielder Hunter Cullen to the Gary Southshore Railcats of the American Association in a sign-and-trade deal to complete a previous trade.
The Evansville Otters are the 2006 and 2016 Frontier League champions.
The Otters play all home games at historic Bosse Field, located at 23 Don Mattingly Way in Evansville, Ind. Stay up-to-date with the Evansville Otters by visiting evansvilleotters.com, or follow the Otters on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
