INDIANAPOLIS— Chip Ganassi Racing has partnered with the nation’s largest veterans service organization, American Legion, for a multi-year agreement to sponsor the No. 48 Honda in the NTT INDYCAR Series.

The team is represented by the duo of Jimmie Johnson, Seven-Time NASCAR Cup Series Champion, and Tony Kanaan, former Indianapolis 500 winner and series champion.

Chip Ganassi, team owner of Chip Ganassi Racing, said the sponsorship program establishes a relationship with an organization dedicated to supporting veterans. Ganassi also said that drivers were excited about the partnership, particularly Johnson, who has had a lon- standing appreciation for veterans and their service in the past.

The American Legion will be displayed on the No. 48 car for everyone to see during every 2021 and 2022 NTT INDYCAR Series race.

The national commander of The American Legion, James W. “Bill” Oxford, said the new partnership is a “win-win” for everyone who was involved. He looks forward to the opportunity that the partnership brings to showcase the way the American Legion strengthens America through its advocacy, programs and support of veterans and their families.

In light of the announcement coming on #GivingTuesday, a day dedicated to global giving designed to help change communities and the world, Johnson has donated $10,000 to the American Legion. Johnson has family members who have served in the military. He hopes that his donation will inspire race fans to donate $48 which pays homage to the number 48 car that will be driven.

“RIGHT JAB AND MIDDLE JAB AND LEFT JAB” DECEMBER 3, 2020

0

“Right Jab And Middle Jab And Left Jab” was created because we have a couple of commenters that post on a daily basis either in our “IS IT TRUE” or “Readers Forum” columns concerning National or International issues.

The majority of our “IS IT TRUE” columns are about local or state issues, so we have decided to give our more opinionated readers exclusive access to our newly created “LEFT JAB and Middle Jab and RIGHT JAB”  column. They now have this post to exclusively discuss national or world issues that they feel passionate about.
We shall be posting the “LEFT JAB” AND “MIDDLE JAB” AND “RIGHT JAB” several times a week.  Oh, “LEFT JAB” is a liberal view, “MIDDLE JAB” is the libertarian view and the “RIGHT JAB is representative of the more conservative views. Also, any reader who would like to react to the written comments in this column is free to do so.

Shooting at R and K Gas Station

0

On December 1 around 5:30 p.m. the Evansville Police Department (E.P.D.) was called to the R and K Food and Gas Station, located at 1526 Judson St., for a shots fired call.

Arriving officers were able to locate two gunshot victims at separate locations close to the R and K. One of the victims was shot in the shoulder and the other was shot multiple times, including in the chest.

Before being transported to the hospital, both victims claimed they were at the gas station when they were approached by the suspects who began shooting at them. One of the victims went on to say that the suspects then stole his Jeep Gladiator.

E.P.D. Detectives were able to look at video from the gas station which showed the victims from the Jeep being pursued by the suspects on foot. It then shows one of the suspects drive off in the Jeep.

Both victims are expected to survive their injuries. Anyone who has information on this incident is asked to contact the Evansville Police Department’s Detective Office at 812-436-7979.
