Faith & Racial Healing: Embracing Truth, Justice, and Restoration

0

Do you want to learn how to advocate for racial healing within your family, church, and community?

Faith & Racial Healing: Embracing Truth, Justice, and Restoration is an eight-session program that guides participants in telling the truth about the history of racism in the United States, that we might work toward true reconciliation with God and restoration with one another. Faith and Racial Healing is presented through the lens of the Christian tradition and is the second program in JustFaith Ministries’ racial justice series.

This program consists of eight 2½ hour sessions, as well as an opening retreat and immersion experience. All sessions include prayer, active listening, and relationship-building.

Though Faith and Racial Healing focuses specifically on African Slaves and their descendants, it also opens participants’ eyes to patterns of injustice that affect other people of color as well. As with all JustFaith programs, participants explore how their faith should inform their response to their learning, as well as discern action steps for working toward racial healing in their own communities.

Available starting Saturday, January 16, 2021.

Indiana State Police Welcomes 36 New Troopers

the 80th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy completed its graduation ceremony in the South Atrium of the Indiana Statehouse. Opening remarks were made by Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas G. Carter and the oath of office for the 36 new State Police officers was delivered by Judge Steven R. Nation of the Hamilton County Superior Court. Each new trooper was then presented their badge and official identification by Superintendent Carter.

Today’s graduation marked the culmination of 25 weeks of intense training which totaled nearly 1,200 hours. But with the reality of COVID, this journey has taken 37 weeks.  Some subject areas of training included criminal and traffic law, crash investigations, emergency vehicle operations, defensive tactics, firearms, and a host of other subjects related to modern policing.

In order to help ensure as safe an environment as possible for graduation, the recruits, staff and instructors resided and trained at the academy in a “bubble”, away from outside contact, including their families for the last two weeks.

Each graduating trooper will be assigned to one of 14 State Police Posts across Indiana. Once at their assigned district, the new troopers will spend the next three months working side by side with a series of experienced Field Training Officers. The purpose of the field training is to put to practical application the training received over the duration of the formal academy training. Upon successful completion of field training, the new troopers will be assigned a state police patrol vehicle and will begin solo patrol in their assigned district.

“RIGHT JAB AND MIDDLE JAB AND LEFT JAB” DECEMBER 21, 2020

0

Right Jab And Middle Jab And Left Jab” was created because we have a couple of commenters that post on a daily basis either in our “IS IT TRUE” or “Readers Forum” columns concerning National or International issues.

The majority of our “IS IT TRUE” columns are about local or state issues, so we have decided to give our more opinionated readers exclusive access to our newly created “LEFT JAB and Middle Jab and RIGHT JAB”  column. They now have this post to exclusively discuss national or world issues that they feel passionate about.
We shall be posting the “LEFT JAB” AND “MIDDLE JAB” AND “RIGHT JAB” several times a week.  Oh, “LEFT JAB” is a liberal view, “MIDDLE JAB” is the libertarian view and the “RIGHT JAB is representative of the more conservative views. Also, any reader who would like to react to the written comments in this column is free to do so.
