JUST IN: O’Brien Sworn In As New State Representative For House District 78

STATEHOUSE (March 30, 2021) – Tim O’Brien of Evansville took the oath of office Tuesday to serve as state representative for House District 78.

Indiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Loretta H. Rush administered the oath via Zoom with O’Brien in the House Chamber at the Statehouse in Indianapolis.

“It is an honor to serve my fellow Hoosiers, and I’m ready to represent House District 78,” O’Brien said. “My experience in business and connection to our community will drive my votes and conversations to prioritize the needs of Vanderburgh and Warrick counties. ”

O’Brien moved to Evansville to attend the University of Southern Indiana, where he graduated in 2015 with a bachelor’s in economics. To pay for his education, O’Brien sold houses while attending classes. Because of his enthusiasm, financial know-how, and understanding of the marketplace, at age 26, he became the youngest president of the Southwest Indiana Association of Realtors.

As a young professional, O’Brien is a real estate broker with F.C. Tucker Emge Realtors. He represents clients in Evansville and the surrounding area, advocating on their behalf and assisting them on the path to homeownership. O’Brien is involved in the community through volunteerism and serving on several local boards.

O’Brien resides in Evansville. He will serve out the remaining term of former State Rep. Holli Sullivan (R-Evansville), who was recently appointed to serve as the Indiana Secretary of State.

State Central Committee Leaders

Mike Schmuhl

Myla Eldridge
Indiana State Party Vice Chair

Born and raised in South Bend, Mike Schmuhl has spent his career helping to elect Hoosier Democrats. He managed both the mayoral and presidential campaigns of his friend, Secretary Pete Buttigieg. Now, he is ready to put Hoosier Democrats on the path to victory.

Myla Eldridge has been a proponent of Democratic values in Indiana as well. Elected in 2014 and reelected in 2018, she serves as the first Black Clerk in Marion County. Eldridge is dedicated to expanding voting rights, fighting for fair elections, and making sure every Hoosier voice is heard.

Chairman Schmuhl is hitting the ground running with his multi-year strategic plan to break the Republican supermajority in the Statehouse, take back our Congressional power, and build our bench at the local and county level.

Introducing
Our New Indiana 8th District
Democratic Central Committee Chair

Thomasina Marsili

In the last five years, lifelong Hoosier Thomasina Marsili has worked on a number of Democratic campaigns and initiatives across the state of Indiana, including her own run for Indiana 8th District U.S. Congress and a statewide initiative for candidates who are teachers. Along the way, she has created a team-building grassroots effort to support democratic candidates. Thomasina believes that through the hardship of loss, the real foundation of support is revealed, and it is with that belief that she reached out to her network to create Grassroots Indiana Democrats, Inc. GRID is built as a resource center so that anyone interested in becoming a volunteer, a supporter, campaign staff, campaign manager, or even a candidate themselves have the ability to connect to the resources and people required to become educated in helping elect Democrats.

Evansville’s Spring Yard Waste Service Begins April 5

0

The Evansville Water and Sewer Utility’s annual Spring Yard Waste Service will begin Monday, April 5, 2021, and continue through Friday, April 30, 2021. Unlimited bags or containers of yard waste will be accepted from customers eligible for the service. The service is provided to assist City residents with extra yard waste generated while cleaning their yards in the spring. There is no extra charge for the service.

How it Works

  • Republic Services, the contractor for the City’s trash and recycling services, will pick up unlimited bags or containers of yard waste on the day of your regular trash collection.
  • Yard waste must be placed next to your City trash cart.
  • Yard waste must be properly contained in plastic bags, tied in bundles or loose in containers.
  • No special bags are required because the waste will be taken to the landfill.

What’s Allowed

  • Spring Yard Waste Service is for organic yard waste like grass clippings, hedge and tree trimmings, garden plants and garden trimmings.

Who’s Eligible

  • Spring Yard Waste Service is available to City residents who pay for trash service with their EWSU water and sewer bill. Apartment complexes, mobile home communities, businesses, commercial customers and County residents are not eligible.

Remember, extra materials outside of the City trash and recycling carts will only be picked up during the annual Spring Yard Waste four (4) week period April 5 – 30. Yard waste may also be placed inside the regular 96-gallon City trash cart throughout the year.

More information on the Spring Yard Waste Service is available at ewsu.com. Click Trash, Recycling & Street Sweeping for a link to Spring Yard Waste Service.
