Todd Rokita Leads 20 States Asking U.S. Supreme Court To Reject Challenge To Pro-Life Law

0

At a new stage of review, Attorney General Todd Rokita is leading a 20-state coalition asking the U.S. Supreme Court to reject a lawsuit challenging a Texas law that prohibits abortion when doctors can detect a fetal heartbeat.

The Texas law, which permits private citizens rather than state officials to file enforcement lawsuits, may be a pro-life model for use in other states.

Earlier in the case, a federal district court prevented the Texas heartbeat law from taking effect, but that decision has now been put on hold.

At issue at this point in the case is whether U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland can sue a state anytime he deems a state law to be unconstitutional — even when no state official plays a role in enforcing the law.

“We will stay relentless in demanding that President Biden and Attorney General Garland respect states’ authority to pass our own laws without being dragged improperly into federal court,” Attorney General Rokita said. “And in Indiana, we will continue striving to protect the lives of the unborn and the health of women.”

ZACH WILLIAMS TOUR STOPS AT OLD NATIONAL EVENTS PLAZA MARCH 24, 2022

(Special  Guest Anne WilsonILSON)

Evansville, IN –December 2021 – GRAMMY® Award winner Zach Williams and special guest Anne Wilson just announced plans for a thirty-five show tour that will stop in Evansville on March 24.  Williams has become one of CCM’s leading artists and songwriters by carving a niche with his singular blend of southern rock, country, and faith-filled songwriting, which quickly earned him his first GRAMMY Award® with his debut album, 2017’s Chain Breaker. With two additional GRAMMY nods among numerous other accolades, he now returns to the stage to share his boldly vulnerable and hope-filled sophomore album, aptly titled Rescue Story.

“One of the best parts of my job is getting to travel around the country – worshipping with a new room full of people each and every night,” Says  Zach Williams.  “I can’t remember a time in my lifetime when it was more needed than right now. This spring, I am honored to be able to hit the road with my good friend Anne Wilson and bring a great show, a great message, and a great lineup to so many cities around the States.”

Lexington, KY native Anne Wilson is a singer/songwriter whose introductory track, “My Jesus,” which she co-wrote with Jeff Pardo and Matthew West, is a warm invitation to experience her Savior in the same intimate way she knows Him. She’s currently working on a debut three-track single, also titled My Jesus, for Capitol Christian Music Group. Wilson will begin touring with Williams over the holiday season and through the spring.

Tickets for the tour will go on sale starting today. Fans and AE Insiders can take advantage of a 20% discount on tickets when they purchase by November 14th by using code INSIDER. For details and tickets please visitwww.awakeningevents.com or www.zachwilliamsmusic.com.

Prepare Lawn Irrigation Systems for Winter to Avoid Frozen Pipes

EVANSVILLE, IND. – Homeowners with lawn sprinkler and irrigation systems connected to the Evansville Water and Sewer Utility water distribution system are advised to winterize their backflow preventers before the area receives a hard freeze. The backflow device is typically located outside the home, above ground, and near the water meter. It protects the city’s water supply by preventing water and potential contaminates from flowing backward into the water distribution system.

The EWSU recommends hiring a plumbing professional to winterize your irrigation system. If that is not possible, there are a few easy steps homeowners should take to prevent the backflow device from freezing. The best way to winterize the backflow preventer is to bleed out all of the water, disconnect the device, and store it in a warm place for the winter.

If you are unable to disconnect the backflow preventer, and after the water has been removed, it is recommended that you cover the device with a thick blanket, towels, or similar material. Insulation and heat tape may be used, but alone they do not provide sufficient protection from extreme cold during winter months. Allowing the backflow preventer and outdoor water pipes to freeze is a costly mistake.

Remember, state and local regulations require homeowners to have the backflow preventer tested by a certified plumbing professional every year. Testers are required to report test results to EWSU.

Visit Cross Connection at ewsu.com to watch EWSU Regulatory Compliance Inspector Jess Bernal demonstrate how to winterize a backflow device.
