Aces push win streak to seven with midweek win over SIUE

0

EVANSVILLE – Reaching the 17-run mark for the third time this season, the University of Evansville baseball team captured its 28th victory of the season in a 17-10 win over SIU Edwardsville at German American Bank Field at Charles H. Braun Stadium on Wednesday night in Evansville.
“Staying in the win column is always good and our offense carried us tonight,” said Aces head baseball coach Wes Carroll on the win. “We had great at bats top to bottom in our lineup. Big weekend ahead for this club.”

On the mound, Evansville utilized seven pitchers on the night with Donovan Schultz getting the start and picking up his second win of the season with four innings of work, allowing four runs and striking-out three.

Evansville’s offense was hot on a warm night in the River City, recording 16 hits with every single Ace who came to the plate tallying at least one hit on the day. Turning-in multi-hit games were Mark Shallenberger, Brent Widder, Evan Berkey, Max Malley, and Danny Borgstrom, who led the team with three hits. The MVC Player of the Week, Scherry went without an RBI last weekend, but made up for it with a team-best five RBI against the Cougars.

Scoring was sporadic and spread out by both teams throughout the midweek contest, but Evansville broke open the game in the bottom of the third, plating nine runs in the frame, taking a 12-2 lead. Evansville’s lead would be narrowed through the final three innings, but the Aces showcased consistency at the plate from the top to bottom of the order and power with a pair of home runs, one each for Berkey and Borgstrom in a 17-10 victory for the Aces.

The win marked Evansville’s seventh-straight and its 13th in its last 15 contests, amassing a 25-8 record over its last 33 games.

Evansville clashes with Dallas Baptist this weekend for a crucial MVC series in Dallas, beginning with game one on Friday with a 6:30 PM first pitch.

Evansville – May 11, 2022 – CenterPoint Energy, Inc. (NYSE: CNP) has announced that its Indiana-based electric utility business, CenterPoint Energy Indiana South, is opening a new all-source request for proposals (RFP) to seek a combination of resources including renewables (wind, solar and battery storage), thermal and demand-side resources, and short-term capacity to meet the future needs of its 150,000 electric customers in southwestern Indiana.

“As we continue our electric generation resource transition, we are looking for additional resources that can contribute to our diversified portfolio to provide safe, reliable and cost-effective electric service to our customers,” said Steve Greenley, Senior Vice President, Generation Development.

The RFP will assist in identifying additional generation technologies that can provide fully accredited capacity no later than March 1, 2027. Later this year, CenterPoint Energy Indiana South will begin its 2022 Integrated Resource Plan, an analysis conducted every three years used to determine the best mix of generation and demand side resources to meet customers’ needs over the next 20 years.

Generation technologies being sought include:

  • Renewables, both wind and solar along with battery storage in paired and standalone applications;
  • Thermal, including coal and natural gas-fired generation, hydrogen, nuclear and other resources;
  • Demand side and load-modifying resources, whether standalone or aggregated, capable of providing accredited capacity; and
  • Short-term capacity, especially in years 2023-2025.

Eligible transaction structures include power purchase agreements, asset purchases including projects in development, demand side contracts and capacity only contracts.

CenterPoint Energy Indiana South has retained 1898 & Co., a division of Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company, Inc., to act as its agent in managing the RFP process. Laddy Aces Softball Season Comes To An End At MVC Championship

 Aces Fall To Ramblers By 5-0 Final Score

 SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Taking on Loyola in its opening Missouri Valley Conference Championship game for the second year in a row, the University of Evansville softball team fell to the Ramblers by a 5-0 score on Wednesday at Killian Stadium.

UE completes the season with a 24-27 record.  The Purple Aces finished the contest with seven hits, all from different players.  Izzy Vetter started her final collegiate game, allowing five runs in six frames.

Loyola wasted little time in taking the lead, scoring the first run of the game in the first on an RBI single from Abbey Jacobsen.  After Alexa Davis recorded Evansville’s first hit of the day in the second, Bella Coffey and Mackenzie McFeron picked up 1-out singles in the third to put runners in scoring position.  Two outs followed to halt the opportunity.

In the bottom half of the third, the Ramblers struck again on a Tori Boysen RBI hit before Madison Ebeling hit a sacrifice fly in the fourth to extend the advantage to 3-0.  It looked as if the Aces were back in business in the fifth when bunt singles from Hannah Hood and Zoe Frossard led things off, but the runners were stranded on base and LUC’s shutout remained intact.

Two more Ramblers runs scored in the 6th, leaving Evansville down to its final three outs.  Pinch hitter Alyssa Barela opened the seventh with a single before three consecutive outs completed the game.  Jacobsen went 3-for-4 on the day with two RBI.  Peyton Pepkowski was the winning pitcher for LUC.  In 6.0+ scoreless innings, she allowed seven hits and struck out eight Aces batters.
