EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Men’s Basketball will visit Western Illinois University for the first time since the 1980-81 season Wednesday in Macomb, Illinois. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. (CST) Wednesday.

The games will be streaming on Fighting Leathernecks All-Access in addition to being heard on ESPN 97.7FM (http://listentotheref.com) and 95.7FM The Spin (http://957thespin.com).

USI hopes to continue building momentum after evening its record at 3-3 with the 69-57 victory over Bowling Green State University Saturday and salvaging a win out of the three-game Gotham Classic. USI senior guard Jelani Simmons (Columbus, Ohio) and junior guard Gary Solomon (Detroit, Michigan) paced the Eagles with 23 points and 21 points, respectively, in the win.

Simmons leads the Eagles through six games with 14.4 points per contest, followed graduate forward Trevor Lakes (Lebanon, Indiana) with 11.2 points per outing. Senior forward Jacob Polakovich (Grand Rapids, Michigan) is third on the team with 10.8 points per game and is posting a team-best 9.3 rebounds per contest.

The WIU Leathernecks are 2-4 after falling to Youngstown State University, 88-64, Saturday at Western Hall. WIU was led by guard Alec Rosner, who had 16 points in the loss. Rosner also leads the Leathernecks for the season with 15.5 points per appearance.

USI trails in the all-time series with Western Illinois, 2-1, and this will be the first meeting since 1981 when the Leathernecks defeated the Eagles in the first round of the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional, 80-73. The first meeting was won by Western Illinois, 82-76, in Macomb during the 1976-77 campaign, while USI took the second game at the Evansville Central Arena, 82-65, that same season.

The final game of the four-game road swing takes the Eagles to Chicago, Illinois, to visit Chicago State University, December 4. USI returns the friendly surroundings of Screaming Eagles Arena December 7 to play Anderson University (Indiana) and December 11 versus Indiana State University.

Attorney General Todd Rokita is advising Hoosiers to do their research before donating to charities this Giving Tuesday. As always, the public should be vigilant and aware of scammers attempting to take advantage of their generosity. Â
“Hoosiers are good-hearted people. Unfortunately, that can leave them susceptible to fraudsters,†Attorney General Rokita said. “We all want to help out our neighbors and lend a helping hand at this time of year. We all should take steps to ensure we’re not filling scammers’ pockets rather than truly helping the needy.â€Â
The Indiana Attorney General works to track down, investigate, and bring to justice the criminals who conduct illegal scams. Â
Giving Tuesday is a great time to show your gratitude by donating to help others, but we all want to make sure our money is in the right hands. Â

The USI Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program (GWEP) is offering a free Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) certification training designed for health professionals and community members who work with older adults. The course will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, November 29 at the Welborn Baptist Foundation, 20 NW 3rd Street, in Evansville.

USI annual Madrigal Feaste returns December 1-4
USI Chamber Choir will host the annual Madrigal Feaste December 1-4 in Carter Hall, located in University Center West on the USI campus. December 1-3 performances will begin at 6 p.m. with doors opening at 6:30 p.m., and the December 4 matinee performance will begin at 1 p.m. with doors opening at 12:30 p.m. Â

The USI New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art is proud to present Filled Up 3, A Ceramic Cup Show, in partnership with New Harmony Clay Project. Filled Up 3 features ceramic cups by contributing artists around the United States, juried by noted ceramic artist Malcolm Motubo Smith.

USI and BG Projects are proud to present The Lamp Project, a group show featuring ceramic installations by USI Ceramics II students at the New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art in New Harmony, Indiana. The exhibition will be on display November 12 through December 17.

USI will hold two Fall Commencement Ceremonies on Saturday, December 17 in the Screaming Eagles Arena to celebrate all Fall 2022 graduates. More info will be coming soon!
