IS IT TRUE it incumbent upon us to remind our City and County officials that Revenue Bonds are rated based on the revenue they generate to make principal and interest payments and based on any assets pledged to secure the bonds? …that Corporations are judged on their ability to generate earnings, while a state or local municipality may also issue a general obligation bond, which is backed by the taxing power of the municipality? …the more revenue a bond can generate, the higher its credit rating?
IS IT TRUE that we have been told by reliable sources that the projected costs to build the new Evansville Water And Sewer Treatment plant may be between $250 to $300 million dollars?
IS IT TRUE we are extremely, pleased with the way State Senator Vaneta Becker is conducting herself on our behalf?
IS IT TRUE that this year’s “SHINERFEST” was a big success?  …we give 5 cheers to those who help make to worthwhile community event successful?
IS IT TRUE that politicians all over America have supported a practice known as “political patronage” when it comes to hiring workers whose jobs are financed fully or partially by Federal and State grants?
IS IT TRUE that the Evansville City Council could use the leadership, political, and business skills of former City Council members John Friend CPA, Connie Robinson, and Curt John-Atty?
IS IT TRUE we commend the Vanderburgh County Commission Legal Council, David L. Jones-Esq., and Craig R. Emig-Esq. for doing an outstanding job for the County? …we would also like to commend Lauren K. Jones, RP, IRP, and Law Firm Administrator for keeping attornies Jones and Emig headed in the right direction?
IS IT TRUE that 3rd Ward Evansville City Councilman Zac Heronemus is running for re-election and may be facing some stiff competition? …we are told that Republican Joe Kratochvil will be taking Councilman Heronemus to task concerning a couple of his overreaching amendments to city ordinances during the last 3 1/2 years?
IS IT TRUE that Evansville recently purchased many acres of land from UE located next to Roberts Park that was once used as an outdoor sports complex for $2 million dollars?  …we are wondering how many more millions of dollars will Evansville have to spend to get the land suitable for the next phase of development?
IS IT TRUE that the law professor Jessica Levinson for NBC News said that “the Presidential pardons are transparently transactional, having nothing to do with fairness or justice and everything to do with rewarding loyalists, allies, and, almost inexplicably, war criminals and disgraced politicians”?  …that Presidential pardons are supposed to act as a fail-safe when the federal criminal justice system malfunctions?
IS IT TRUE that we are hearing that a group of local business people is talking about approaching members of the Evansville City Council to adopt a city ordinance that would put the Ford Center under the direction of a “Board Of Control”?
IS IT TRUE that a boy in a wheelchair saw a desperate woman struggling on crutches with a broken leg and offered to carry her backpack and books?  …that he helped the lady all the way across campus to her class? …as he was leaving he told the lady “I hope you feel better soon?”
IS IT TRUE that a reader of ours recently kissed his dad on the forehead in his hospital bed? …about 2 minutes later his dad passed away?  …at that point, his son realized that it was the first time he had given him a kiss since he was a little boy?
IS IT TRUE that because of several recent housing projects in certain areas of North Main Street area is well positioned for some future creative economic development?
IS IT TRUE that State Representative Tim O’Brien is becoming a political “Mover And Shaker” in Indy?

IS IT TRUE that the harsh reality of biased reporting and intentionally reporting falsehoods news has turned off nearly everyone?…with Facebook and other social media outlets making every human being a reporter without any truth filters, we are becoming an amazingly misinformed nation but some of us don’t seem to know it?

IS IT TRUE that it is no secret that the newspaper industry has been falling on hard times for at least a decade?  …that the many newspapers struggle to survive?  …in order to save money some METRO newspapers drastically reduced their reporting staff in essence forcing the papers to lower the literary bar when it comes to quality reporting?
Please take time and read our articles entitled “Statehouse Files”, Law Enforcement, Weekly Birthday, Hot Jobs, and “Local Sports”.

Help With Tutoring Costs Available For Hoosier Students

Help With Tutoring Costs Available For Hoosier Students

by Indian State Representative Wendy McNarama

While Indiana is making great strides in boosting student reading and math scores, more work needs to be done to get scores back to pre-pandemic levels. To support students in reaching their goals, Indiana Learns is providing grants to help families pay for after-school tutoring.

With Indiana Learns, established through legislation I supported, eligible families can receive up to $1,000 to use toward approved math and reading tutors, and academic camps during school breaks for students in grades three to eight.

To be eligible, a student must qualify for the federal free or reduced lunch program and have scored below proficiency in either mathematics or English/language arts on ILEARN in 2022.

To find out if your student qualifies, click here.

This is a great opportunity to help students improve their reading and math skills, and I hope more families consider applying for an Indiana Learns grant. Eligible students must use the funding before June 30, 2024. To learn more and apply, click here.
