OTTERS STRUGGLE IN THE FOURTH

EVANSVILLE, IN, August 25, 2016 – The Evansville Otters fell nine to one in game three against the Normal CornBelters.J.R. Edwards started on the rubber for the Otters and moved to 0-1 after the loss. Edwards was on the mound for three and two-thirds innings. Horacio Acosta started on the mound for the CornBelters and shut down the Otters. Acosta pitched for eight innings, allowing one run and five hits. Acosta moved to 9-3 on the season.

The CornBelters would start the scoring outburst in the fourth. The CornBelters scored six runs during the inning. Dustin Kelly started the scoring with an RBI-single. With bases loaded twice, the Otters walked two batters in a row to bring in two runs. Santiago Chirino hit fielder’s choice to bring in another. Aaron Dudley would score two with his single.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Otters would manage to get their first base hit on the night when John Schultz hit for a single. In the seventh the CornBelters would extend their lead seven to zero with another RBI-single from Dudley.

Josh Allen would finally get the Otters on the board in the eighth. Allen scored Julio Rodriguez with an RBI-single. That’s all the runs the Otters would muster. In the ninth, the CornBelters brought in two runs; the first was from an RBI-double from Nolan Meadows. Kelly would score one with his single.

The Otters (49-37) start a three game home stand against division leader Southern Illinois. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35pm at Bosse Field.
