Gregory Wayne Harmon, 72, of Mt. Vernon, IN passed away on August 9, 2019 at West River Health Campus. He was born December 11, 1946 in Evansville, IN to Jeffrey and Ruth (Sutton) Harmon, Jr.
Greg graduated from Benjamin Bosses High School in 1964 where he played French Horn in the marching and concert bands and concert orchestra. He was a veteran of the US Navy where he attended the music school in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Greg served aboard the Admiral’s ship of the Sixth Fleet touring the Mediterranean. He attended IU School of Music studying the French Horn. Greg had been a bartender for many years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, the Elks and River City Eagles. Greg enjoyed flying ultralights and aircraft.
He is preceded in death by his father and sister Jennifer Gross.
He is survived by his mother, brother Andy (Linda) Harmon, sister Pam (James) Kimsey, nieces and nephews, cousins, stepmother Jane Harmon, former wife Dr. Barbara Sikes, and friend Al Ramza.
A celebration of life will be held in the near future.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
