NOTICE TO TAXPAYERS OF PROPOSED ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATIONS
Notice is hereby given to the taxpayers of the City of Evansville and Vanderburgh County, Indiana, that the Common Council of Evansville in Room 301, Civic Center Complex, on the 25th day of June, 2012, at 5:10 PM, will conduct a public hearing on additional appropriations in excess of the budget for the current year.

PARKS $ 1,000,000
COUNTY OPTION INCOME TAX $ 2,000,000
RIVERBOAT $ 1,000,000
Taxpayers appearing at the meeting shall have a right to be heard. The additional appropriations as finally made will be referred to the Department of Local Government Finance (DLGF). The DLGF will make a written determination as to the sufficiency of funds to support the appropriations made within fifteen (15) days of receipt of a Certified Copy of the action taken.

A $400.Million operating budget, and over $1.Billion in capital expenditures annually.
The only other item in Indiana’s budget that comes close to INDOT’s appropriation is the amount appropriated for “economic development”.
However, when belt tightening is the order of the day, do these two items go under the knife? Fat chance!
