EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Women’s Tennis (2-2) started the match with a doubles win but shortly saw Western Illinois University (3-1) jump out and take the 6-1 victory from the Screaming Eagles Friday afternoon at the Evansville Tennis Center.

Doubles: USI had success at number one with the junior Rachel McCorkle (Tulsa, Oklahoma)/junior Lauren Rowe (Terre Haute, Indiana) duo capturing a 6-0 sweep over their respective opponents. Despite winning the first doubles competition, the Eagles stumbled in the two and three holes, allowing the Leathernecks to take the doubles decision.

Singles: Sophomore Madison Windham (Clarksville, Tennessee) tallied the lone singles point for USI after taking home the victory (6-3, 6-4) at number three. This was Windham’s first singles win of the young season.

NEXT UP FOR THE EAGLES:
The Eagles travel to Louisville, Kentucky to face former NCAA Division II and Great Lakes Valley Conference foe, Bellarmine University, Saturday February 11 at 2 p.m. (CT).

USI has a split 12-12 record against the Knights dating back to 2000. The Eagles are looking to snap an eight-game skid against Bellarmine, with the latest match being a 6-1 loss last spring.
