University of Southern Indiana senior Austin Nolan was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Fall Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the league’s men’s cross country contingent this afternoon.

The Evansville-native’s third-straight annual award represents the sixth-straight time the Screaming Eagles have captured the Men’s Cross Country recognition.

Nolan earned All-GLVC honors at the 2020 GLVC Championship meet, finishing fifth in the event to lead the Eagles to their 15th-consecutive league title. He finished among the top seven for USI in five of the six meets he competed in, and was the top finisher for the Eagles at the Trevecca Division II Showcase.

The two-time GLVC Champion carries a 3.92 overall grade point average as an accounting & professional services and finance double-major after posting a perfect 4.0 during this past fall.

The GLVC selects one student-athlete in each conference sport to be designated the GLVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year. The award is based upon athletic accomplishments, both team and individual, and academic performance in the season upon which the award is based. Nominees must have a cumulative grade point average that meets Academic All-America standards (3.30), and freshmen and first-year transfers are not eligible for the award. The voting is completed by each member institution’s Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR).
