LAST TIME OUT: MEN SWEEP, WOMEN SPLIT IN IUSD’s WINNING WEEKEND

Indiana swimming and diving won four of five matchups after completing a two-day double dual meet October 29-30 at Ohio State. The No. 5 Hoosier men earned three wins over the weekend to improve to a perfect 5-0 on the season. The No. 11 IU women’s swimming and diving squad split the weekend, beating No. 18 Virginia Tech, 225-128, but falling to the hosts, 190-163, to move to 4-1 on the season.

Brendan Burns dominated the weekend to earn the Big Ten Men’s Swimmer of the Week award, contributing four wins and six total top three finishes to the men’s score. Four of his times were NCAA B cut qualifying times and all six of his times ranked top 10 in the nation and top five in the Big Ten. Burns won the 200 Backstroke and 200 Butterfly and was part of IU’s victorious 400 and 200 Medley Relay squads.

Freshman Carson Tyler swept the 1-Meter and 3-Meter dive competitions to earn Big Ten men’s Diver of the Week honors. In both events, Tyler earned NCAA Zone Qualifying scores and has collected qualifying marks in all four events he’s competed in this season. In the 3M, Tyler scored a 440.65 and in the 1M a 362.00.
