JOJO GENTRY EVANSVILLE, INDIANA

Evansville’s Lilly King and Team USA bring home the gold in the 4×100 Medley Relay with a time of 3:53.13.

The Reitz alum concludes her participation in the Rio de Janeiro Olympics with two gold medals. She won the 100m Breaststroke and set an Olympic record Monday.

Team USA Swim coach Ray Looze called King’s second leg in the event “crucial” in an interview with 44Sports Thursday, which is why King sat out of the event’s qualifying heat Friday.

King will spend the remainder of the Olympics, which concludes August 21, with family and watching other events.

She’s going to stay through closing ceremonies because she had to not go to opening ceremonies,” Looze said. “She’s going to have a really full slate. I know she wants to see track and field and stuff like that so hopefully she will have some time with her parents to go see other sports.”
