This legislative session yielded big wins for Hoosiers, with Indiana’s two-year, $37 billion state budget reducing taxpayer-funded debt by over $1 billion, and providing opportunities for future tax cuts and reforms.

We funded critical government services and proven programs while making historic investments in K-12 education, broadband and economic development. In addition to an unprecedented $250 million investment to help expand reliable and affordable internet service, especially in unserved and underserved areas, a new law I supported prioritizes internet access for Hoosier schools, students and health care clinics in rural communities. House Enrolled Act 1199, which I authored, will help Hoosiers with suspended licenses drive again and head back to work by providing proof of insurance to the BMV. After completing education and job-training courses, nonviolent offenders can have license reinstatement fees waived, helping them get back on the road. I also authored House Enrolled Act 1008, which establishes a new, $150 million grant program to support students who are at risk of falling behind or scored below academic standards because of disruptions caused by COVID-19.
