Dr. George Rapp, a native of New Harmony, recently received the 2019 Sachem Award, the state’s highest honor, during a ceremony at the Indiana State Museum.

The Sachem is given annually to recognize a lifetime of excellence and moral virtue that has brought credit and honor to Indiana.

Dr. Rapp’s service to our community and our state is immeasurable, and he is fully deserving of this award. As an orthopedic surgeon practicing for over 35 years, Dr. Rapp dedicated his life to helping his fellow man, and his efforts have made a difference for countless Hoosiers and beyond.

He has been a medical pioneer, champion of education and supporter of the arts throughout his life.

I am pleased to recognize Dr. Rapp for receiving the state’s highest honor, and I thank him for his service.
