  1. Wow, the old gang at the Civic Center has really circled the wagons around Winnecke and his “partner” McClintock..

  2. If my math and the Mole predictions are correct, looks like 8 Democrats and 2 Republicans on the City Council and a Republicractic Mayor.

  3. Football coach Don Watson used to always tell us to shut our mouths off the field and then play our hearts out when the game began. You win by your presence on the field, because you outplayed your opponent, not by bragging how good you are in the parking lot.

I join with ‘pressanykey’ that Tuesday will be a day full of surprises.

  4. Today is like the day before having surgery.
    You’re anxious,scared,and dreading it.
But, also, you know that it will be over.Or at least changed.
Regardless of the outcome you know things will be different.
You also know that it will be painful.

Thinking of the ” machine” conversation, I’m inclined to agree with Groucho:” I don’t want to belong to any club that will accept me as a member”.

Thinking of all the campaign slogans and quotes, I’m inclined to cite Groucho again:”Those are my principles. If you don’t like them I have others”.

  5. I hope and pray they are wrong. The moles do not know about all the doors we have knocked on in the last 4 days, or the postcard that everyone in the second ward got on November 3rd. or November 4th.

  6. I too am a Davis supporter and a strong supporter of Mr Walters even though I am not in his ward. He is a thinker, a hard worker, and a business person like I am which gives us a good understanding of how difficult the times have been lately.

I just spoke with Lon this morning to clarify an issue that is important to me but perhaps to few of you and that is his position on animals.

Having lived away from Evansville for over 30 years, Evansville is another world not only for politics but for the way people treat their pets. I am not talking something dramatic as a “no kill” movement. Just simply working to make a dent in the “disposable” view people have about pets around here would be substantial.

The city animal shelter has improved greatly in recent years but it has a long, long way to go to measure up to many other places in the country. A much closer collaboration between ACC and VHS would be in order. Bringing sunshine to the problem of dog fighting and the abundance of mistreated American Staffordshire Terriers (aka pit bulls) is a law enforcement issue but also an ACC/VHS problem and a total city black eye.

As you can tell, animals in the community should be on the agenda for anyone elected to office. Agreed, it won’t be at the top of the list but if it is worked on over time, improvements can be made and lives of our cats, dogs, birds, and other pets as well as our own can be made infinitely better in the process.

Therefore as I check out the qualifications and views of all the candidates for whom I will vote, an accessibility and openness to ideas about animal issues is important to me. And beyond that, there needs to be drive to move the needed improvements forward. Mr. Walters falls in that category, as do Dan Adams, and Rick Davis.

Just like an interest in improving our parks, in improving the quality of the air we breathe, nurturing and protecting Wesselman Nature Preserve, cleaning up our water supply, and the huge sewer and storm water problem, my interest involves quality of life issues for and an interest in all living creatures and their health and well-being.

We are all in this together. Let’s try to remember that accessibility of the candidates to all life issues is the first qualification to look for.

  7. the way I see it your moles are tied 4-4 for the mayoral race with Mole#3 being the deciding factor, therefore Rick Davis wins by a nose
