EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Women’s Tennis juniors Rachel McCorkle (Tulsa, Oklahoma) and Lauren Rowe (Terre Haute, Indiana) were named Ohio Valley Conference Doubles Team of the Week, the league announced Wednesday morning. This is the first weekly OVC honor awarded to the Screaming Eagles in program history.

The McCorkle/Rowe combination scored a 6-0 sweep over Western Illinois University in doubles competition last week in the Screaming Eagles’ 6-1 home loss. This was the duo’s second-straight sweep over a doubles opponent and 22nd career doubles win as partners at USI.

The Eagles are 2-2 this season after earning wins against Indiana University Southeast and Cumberland University. USI is predicted to finish sixth in the conference with Chris Crawford leading the group in his first year as the women’s head coach.

The Eagles are back in action this weekend in Louisville, Kentucky when USI faces former NCAA Division II and Great Lakes Valley Conference foe, Bellarmine University, Saturday at 2 p.m. (CT). USI is 12-12 against the Knights dating back to 2000 and is looking to end an eight-game skid against Bellarmine.
