  1. I appreciated Rick’s responses overall. He seems so much more sincere than his opponent. He’s in this for the right reasons. You can tell he really cares about this city.
Winnecke has been around awhile, so I think it’s time for some new leadership.

    Davis has my vote.

  2. Rick Davis is the man Evansville needs to lead this great city. He will work hard for and with the citizens of Evansville to make this city a great place to live again and a great place to raise a family. I proudly support Rick Davis!!

  3. Both did well. The North Korean secrecy of the current regime appears over under either new Mayor.

    • Joe,

I just got a text message from Kim Jong-il. He wants to hire JW on a consulting basis to help beef up the North Korean sharing of information with its citizens . . .

      • beerguy, look for me at the Main Gate bar about 6:30-7 pm. I won’t be at the upstairs $500/table fundraiser by the Mainstreet Democrats, but drinking at the bar with the bleach blonde watching the Saints-Packers game.

        • JoeBiden, get the Maingate to accept the North Korean won at the bar tonight and Kim Jong and I will step out (the guy is freakin’ loaded, he’ll buy all night)

          • BG, getting concerned the Mainstreet Democrats will force the Main Gate bar to show their equally illustrious leader Barak Hussein Obama’s speech, rather than the NFL game between the last 2 super bowl champs.

  4. I didn’t like the way they were both talking so fast. Was it too many questions for the time allowed? I just checked WNIN’s TV line up. I found several programs they could bump. Rick should be running for city council, not mayor. This is a position that needs strong leadership.

  5. Oh, please let it be – but only under a Davis administration. Winnecke is just like Weinzapfel – just more of the same. Please – no more!!!

Davis will be a great mayor.

  6. Davis as Mayor would make us the laughingstock of the state. From his appearance, to his mannerisms, to his simplistic, naive solutions to complex probelsms, he just doesn’t have the answers. You want rule by thugs, hasbeens and those that never were that is what you will get with Davis as mayor. We have serious problems and we need serious people to deal with them and Rick Davis just doesn’t make the cut.

    • While you are correct that some of Rick’s ideals sounded “simplistic” and “naive” – please do not pick on the man. He is trying hard to hang in there running against a candidate who is vastly more experienced and knowledgeable with a proven track record. My hat is off to Rick for his effort. The debate underscored that Mr. Winnecke is “The” candidate and that is clear enough. As the public gets to know both candidates better, and the task ahead comes into greater focus, the choice should become even more self evident without name calling.

      • Yes Bill we know that Winnecke IS your party’s candidate for mayor but as a life long republican I’m saying thanks…but no thanks….I may waste my vote voting for Lon Walters, but Mr Winnecke….nope not going to happen.

    • “Davis as Mayor would make us the laughingstock of the state. From his appearance, to his mannerisms, to his simplistic, naive solutions to complex probelsms”

Really…more so then we are already with the people in Indy that have plundered the city for the last eight years? So you are suggesting 4 years of “Weinzapfel Lite”? a continuation of the “old boys club” which Winnecke is a closet member of, spending millions to tear down Roberts stadium, city/county consolidation without police and fire in the mix, and then you really want to talk about a persons appearance? (how about those goofy glasses Winnecke wears that make him look like howdy doody, we won’t mention the goofy grin he has)

Move along folks….no agenda here to see. 🙂

      • As someone who travels throughout the state I constantly come into contact with people who are amazed at the negativity directed at Jonathan Weinzapfel. Our standing around the state has dramaticaly risen under the Mayor and people always comment about how he has brought change and progress to this area.

        • I’m calling B.S. on this one. I’d bet that most Hoosiers in cities north of Vincennes don’t give Evansville a 2nd thought. I’m sure 99% of them have no idea who our mayor is and any of them that have an opinion of Evansville whatsoever would be mostly negative.

        • Yes if you pay people enough money they will even say they like you!….then snicker behind your back as you walk away. Apparently Weinzapfel couldn’t overcome the negativity emanating from our community enough to run for governor….so if people upstate are seeing/hearing the negativity it’s not just a figure of all of our imaginations is it?

Tom did you ever take a moment to think why the public’s perception is so negative about our current mayor?

          JMHO

    • We need serious posters too. Unfortunately you do not seem to be one. We get it Tucker: you like Winnecke.

      • Pressanykey, Tucker only likes Winnecke because he is the opponent of the Team Weinzapfel Mainsteet Democrat’s enemy, Rick Davis. The “Della” like cheerleading for the administration is the give away.

        • Actually I dont LIKE either candidate. But being a responsible voter and holding my city’s best intrests at heart I will hold my nose and vote for Winnecke. Better a republican than government by thuggery

    • I prefer to vote for a man who cares about the community and proves it. I don’t care about looks or mannerisms or any other shallow comments. Winnecke says he wants to involve and listen to the people yet he doesn’t return phone calls from seniors in our community – NO THANKS!! Rick Davis proved last night that he is serious and cares. Winnecke is more of the same and I feel can not be trusted.

  7. If Davis is elected mayor we can expect the same self-serving incompetence that we got from Wienie-Boy, the most crooked mayor in the history of Evansville.

    • How does Winnecke differ from Weinzapfel?

All I know is that Weinzapfel likes Winnecke, but does not like Davis. If there is a parallel to be drawn, I’d say LW and JW are the most similar.

      • Very astute! The question is WHY does Weinzapfel like Winnecke so much since they are on opposing parties…or are they really?

Does party affiliation really mean anything anymore? is it not just a badge or name tag that a candidate or party member wears? or is there something else, in the day it really did mean a difference, today…not so much, just look to Washington DC and you can see sub-labels on every party member from teaparty to progressive the name tags mean very little in relationship to the big party badge that the people use to get elected.

        JMHO

  8. Rick hit the nail on the head, if you want more of the same, behind closed doors, they know what is best for you, Winnecke is the guy. For integrity, honesty, and most important– TRANSPARENCY, Pick RICK DAVIS.
Thank you Rick for running and trying to make city government something the citizens of Evansville can be proud of.
    Rick has my vote

  9. Thank you Lloyd for letting EVERYONE know that you were in the Homestead Credit theft attempt meeting. What everyone doesn’t know is that he is the one who called the meeting. The more that he is on TV the more votes for Rick. Keep up the good work Lloyd. “The ship is sinking all rats please leave from the starboard side”.

    • Thank you Rick for buying the Firefighters endorsement by telling them you would raise taxes to fund their pay raises.

      • You have stated this over and over….I’m curious, the firefighters were offered the same 2% as every other city department, neither the police or the fire department has a signed contract with the city because of a pending lawsuits both have with the city over the “duration clause” in both contracts, the police have moved forward with a contract that took a year and a half to negotiate that gives them a 2% raise and leaves the “duration clause” on the table to be decided by a judge which may or may not be the smart thing to do.

The firefighters are in the same process of negotiations with the city with the same 2% raise…they would like the “duration clause” settled before signing a contract.

I don’t see where Rick Davis comes into play here, neither group has a signed & ratified contract with the city currently and the pending outcome of the litigation and contract language is the biggest stumbling block in the city getting a contract with both groups.

The other matter is some of over time pay for the police that the city has not been paying for the last 3 years concerning training and is a violation of their contract with the city which is going to come back to haunt the next mayor.

Please explain how Rick Davis has a hand in this, or even Mr Winnecke?

        • You know what’s funny? The fact that teapartyfriend cast his online vote this morning for Winnecke, while no doubt sitting at Dem HQ…

      • No matter how many times you repeat that lie it still won’t be true.

PS It’s obvious who you are and that you’re not part of the teaparty.

        • Mr. Davis’s statement to the Firefighters is on tape. If you doubt my take on his statements, view the tape.

          • From your comments, you seem to have the inside track with the Firefighters. So ask them to see their video of the event. Or ask around for friends who may have recorded it on their cell phones.

      • Missy, is that you? You’re just mad cause you know firefighters will unseat you, even if they have to come back in 4 yrs to do it. Why? Because you wont listen to facts, you just listen to sneaks like Johnny and Jarhead

        • Four years in politics is a long time off, but next time you might want to recruit a candidate with a personality somewhat more appealing than an overcooked turnip.

          • You know I live in the 2nd ward (20+ years) and have watched Ms Mosby in action for years, she’s just a puppet for the club, but the biggest problem I have with her is her lack of paying attention at the city council meetings and the constant texting she does, it’s been rumored that she is getting commands via text on what to say…but I find that hard to believe.

            Comment?

          • Well first of all, congratulations on your 20-year residency in the 2nd Ward. Secondly, kudos on your observation skills. I’m sure your eagle eye regarding Missy’s texting habits has equally spotted textaholic Rick and his umbilical fixation with his iPhone, like when he is receiving a running stream of directives from Denton and others at every event. Reminds me of Troy and his total dependance on his Android.

  10. I find it refreshing to have a Candidate like Rick Davis he has a good jobs program for our city he is not a Jonnie clone like Lloyd.Rick will move the city forward I am supporting RICK DAVIS OUR NET MAYOR

    • If you are the fireman Ray Goff I would think you would support Rick, you gave him over $5,000 in the primary election and said to be in the running for the Fire Chief job.

      • Nothing wrong with Ray hedging his bet, but I would like to see Rick appoint a fire chief from the minority community. Even though it would be his first minority hire, it would make a significant impact if his first was a fire chief.

        • Not a thing wrong with it. I would expect the other two firemen who gave Rick over $5,000 would also be supporting him.

  11. My take on the debate, and candidates in general.

Winnecke…several years in public service-YES…Thank You for your service. However, Your biggest issue to us the voters is your arrogancy.
This will be your downfall in this election! Smile, and say the word “WE” as often as you can, and possibly this neck to neck election might conme out in your favor!

Davis……I, like most do not know who you are and what you are about!
This could be to your benefit. Establish yourself as to who you want Rick Davis to be. You need to appear not to be the freshman that you are.
During the debate you said Thank You after each comment. That is a polite gesture however, it comes off as not knowing how to end a statement. Go to a reputable Men’s Store and purchase a couple of Business Suits that give you the appearance of a person actually in the business sector. And be smart and not attack your opponent……he is a marketing executive and will use your attacks against you.
You need to be more assertive and give us the opinion that when talking with our State officials you will represent Evansville professionally.

Good luck to both of you………It appears to be anyone’s office at this time. And I do beleave that negetive comments will not gain votes this time around…..people are more interested in your positive comments for our City.

  12. Rick Davis has my vote!! According to the statements above, I believe the Winnecke supporters ARE THE THUGS! And what is so wrong with supporters giving their candidate donations? Doesn’t ALL candidates receive donations??

    • And, by the way, I’m not a fireman, but I gave a donation. Does that make me in the running for Fire Chief too??

      • Never said it was wrong to donate to your candidate of your choice.
Not sure but I think you have to be a fireman to be Chief but go ahead and donate all you want.

  13. Anyone who supports Rick Davis is a hypocrit.

Rick Davis says,”Say no to the status quo.”

    As if…

His family is saturated within what is called the “established democrats” in Vanderburgh County.

    As if…

He will be anything else but “differnt”. He raves that his mentor was Bettye Knight Smith…a long time establishment democrat, as is Mayor W., Troy Tornatta and Chief Jarboe (who Davis is related to and has said that he WILL NOT be replacing as fire chief).

No more “status quo”? You need to look at Davis more, you will see that particular part of his campaign is covered up well.

    • And you came to this conclusion how? I fail to see how anyone who doesn’t have a agenda or has been paying attention to party politics could make such a statement and not be a bit daft, Davis has split the local democratic party in two and has been pretty much on his own as far as pure party support.

“Chief Jarboe (who Davis is related to and has said that he WILL NOT be replacing as fire chief).”

Totally false…..both Davis and Winnecke have stated that Keith Jarboe will be replaced, in the early days of the campaign Winnecke stated that he was unsure but if you ask the question now he will and has stated that both the police chief and fire chief will be replaced if he is elected.

“Rick Davis says,”Say no to the status quo.””

You need to pay more attention what he said was ” The Status Quo Must Go”

“No more “status quo”? You need to look at Davis more, you will see that particular part of his campaign is covered up well.”

Your comment is cryptic at best….please explain what it is that your trying to say, what is he covering up? if you have dirt to spill you’ll find we are all ears here, if you don’t want to post in the open forum use the mole messenger button at the top of the page.

  14. Allow me to also say that Mr. Davis yesterday morning at the Chamber of Commerce breakfast was in favor of raising property taxes in order to balance a budget.

Take that feather and put it in your cap.
