Mayor Winnecke Releases Reasons for Aborting the Earthcare Deal

15

Mayor Lloyd Winnecke stated today that Earthcare Energy failed to meet two of the requirements imposed by the City of Evansville and outlined in an agreement between the two parties.

Winnecke said today that Earthcare failed to apply for a loan guarantee from the U.S. Department of Energy and went on to advise city attorneys that they had no intention to make such application.

The second requirement that Earthcare failed to meet was to make any license agreement with Langson Energy available to City of Evansville officials. In an effort to save the deal Earthcare officials stated to City Attorney Ted Ziemer that they were “going to get” a non exclusive license with Langson. Earthcare had previously claimed to have an exclusive license to manufacture the Langson Step Down Generators along with the assignment of a patent on the device. It was eventually learned through private channels that no patent existed.

The Mayor’s office has also disclosed that a $200,000 loan made by the City of Evansville to Earthcare Energy currently has an outstanding balance of $184,000. The Mayor expressed the opinion that he suspects that Earthcare will pay back the $184,000.

  1. Can we make Connie “Momma Doc Duvalier” Robinson, Missy, and the Beaver pay back the $184,000. They were in the tank for this and voted wthout thinking.

    • Take it out of GAGE’s budget. It was Dewey that drove this thing through and refused to answer to anyone.

  2. After all the hue and cry from council member Chicken Little and her blogging partners about Earthcare executives and their personal morals, criminal records, political connections, sneagly motives and impending doomsday scenarios, it all boiled down to Earthcare’s inability to satisfy two terms of the contract? It sounds to me like Ted Ziemer had complete grasp of the situation from the beginning and really didn’t need to waste time and tax money vetting all the individual executives when he could hold their collective feet to the fire with a rock solid contract.

    • Ho Ho, please post this “letter of agreement” which was cited. Also send in the billings The Big Z racked up before it was obvious Earthcare couldn’t answer the bell. Just a guess: the $ 200,000 was to pay Earthcare’s legal fees–i.e., another “Browning” deal where the city is paying their expenses to hopefully get a deal ? HO, HO, Mr. Howmuchmore, I suggest you ask yourself the question posed by your screen name!

    • LOL….while you may be correct, we’ll really never know if that is true or not, fact is that we were very close to loosing $4.8m and it would appear from all the public knows is that the loan would have gone through had it not been for the efforts of one council member’s quest to uncover the truth by actually vetting the company.

But I’m sure that Mr Ziemer will reassure everyone that he had a firm grip on the check and the tiller guiding this to the eventual happy ending for the taxpayers….but the bigger issue is just how such a haphazardly put together scheme could have gotten as far as it did…as they say “all’s well that ends well”…someone just needs to cough up $184k and we can move on to the next issue.

      But then it is JMHO

  3. So basically we just pissed away $200 k for nothing. Is anyone actually going to be held accountable for this? Seems like you’re unqualified to be the Mayor of a town this size if you’re so easily fooled into an obvious scam.

  4. how much longer can this race to the bottom go on?you actually grovel and beg these shysters to take the money and run. your desperation to lure something, anything to this sold out little town is really cheating said shysters the satisfaction of actually stealing the money from your stupid asses.

    • Eight years of daily observance of these nefarious dealings has left its mark on people.

The good news is that we have just witnessed that we DO have some people involved in local government who have their heads screwed on straight and know the definition of a moral principle. It is a sad statement that those people are currently in a minority, however they have shown us just how effective a principled minority can be.

    • Do the 3 Stooges have rent houses in Evansville they can claim as legal residences? If they do, I’m sure our local election board will certify them to run for City Council!
