(November 26, 2023) – Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke and Deputy Mayor / Interim Parks Director Steve Schaefer will break ground tomorrow, Monday, November 27th on a new Futsal Court at Stockwell Park.
The ceremony will take place at 10:00 am on the site of the old tennis court at Stockwell Park (2701 N. Stockwell).
Mayor Winnecke and Deputy Mayor Schaefer will be joined by representatives from the Welborn Baptist Foundation, Indiana Soccer, Parks & Recreation Department, and the Latino Soccer League.
Futsal is a game similar to soccer but played on a hardcourt surface. For the past several years, the Latino Soccer League has advocated and raised private funds. Through a partnership between the Parks & Recreation Department and the Welborn Baptist Foundation, the project will finally become a reality.
The project is currently under contract with Deig Bros and is expected to be complete by early 2024.
