Officer-Involved Shooting
On November 8 around 8:15 p.m. the Evansville Police Department was called to the 1100 block of Cherry St. for a person with a gun. The caller notified police dispatch to say that there was an armed man in her backyard threatening to shoot her dog. She went on to say that the man pointed the weapon at her.Â
Arriving officers confronted the man who was still armed and gave him several verbal commands. The man refused to comply with the officer’s commands. His actions prompted the officers to fire at him. Â
Two officers fired at the man striking him multiple times. The man died on the scene.Â
More details will be given out when they are made available.Â
A press conference, including bodycam footage, will take place on November 9 sometime around late morning.Â
