The Veterans of Lucas Place II ECHO Housing Corporation, have received approval from the Department of Parks and Recreation to clean the WWII monument across from the Old Courthouse as their first community service project.
Lucas Place II Veterans
WWII monument across from the Old Courthouse.
The Veterans will be at the monument from 8-11am Wednesday, August 28, 2013.
Guided by the tenant-council, this is the first of what will be regular activities designed to contribute to the community as well as to increase visibility and raise awareness of the issues facing Veterans. Tenant accomplishments, such as this support permanent supportive housing as an effective model for serving the chronically homeless in that these individuals were previously high-level consumers of emergency/homeless services. Today, however, they no longer utilize those emergency services and now have the capacity to impact the community positively.
