 On today’s date around 11:30 a.m., the Evansville Police Department was called to the 2700 block of Lodge Avenue for a shots fired call. The caller heard a gunshot in the hallway of the apartment building.
   Officers were able to find the victim in the hallway with a gunshot wound in her upper left chest area. An arriving ambulance crew transported her to the hospital for treatment.Â
 It appears that this shooting stems from an earlier confrontation between the victim’s juvenile son and the suspect, where the suspect robbed him of his cell phone.Â
 The victim, in an effort to retrieve her son’s phone, went looking for the suspect, finding him in the hallway of an apartment building. After a brief struggle, the suspect shot the victim and fled the scene.Â
 At this time we do not have any identification on the suspect. If anyone knows anything about this incident they are asked to contact the Evansville Police Department’s Detective Office.Â
 The current status on the victim’s condition is unknown.Â
