Last week, a longstanding farm in our community received Hoosier Homestead awards for its continued commitment to Indiana agriculture.Â
Farms owned and maintained by the same family for 100 years or more can qualify for the centennial, sesquicentennial or bicentennial awards.
In Senate District 50, the Kroeger-Susott Farm, in operation since 1862, received Hoosier Homestead Centennial and Sesquicentennial awards.
Farmers contribute immensely to Indiana’s heritage and economy. We are so fortunate to have such dedicated family farms like Kroger-Susott in our community, and I am thankful for all the hard work they’ve done in our state for over 150 years. It is truly an incredible achievement.
Each year, two awards ceremonies are held in the spring and summer commemorating the achievements of farm families across the state. Since its inception in 1976, more than 5,800 farms received the designation of Hoosier Homestead. Â
