Guests staying at the Evansville Rescue Mission (500 East Walnut Street, Evansville, IN 47713), as well as the general public, will be able to enjoy some piping-hot pizza courtesy of Little Caesar’s Love Kitchen.
Little Caesar’s Love Kitchen bus will make a brief visit to the Rescue Mission’s main campus in downtown Evansville on Thursday, August 25th, and will begin serving pizza to the public at 5 p.m. Pizza will be served to anyone needing a meal between 5 and 6 p.m. at the ERM.
The Little Caesars Love Kitchen travels across North America to help those in need. Little Caesars has two trucks in operation so they can be of service 365 days a year. These restaurants on wheels have served more than three million people in the United States and Canada. The Love Kitchen has been recognized for its charitable efforts as well, receiving The President’s Volunteer Action Award Citation from former Presidents George H. W. Bush and Bill Clinton. The Reagan administration also awarded the Love Kitchen a Presidential Citation for Private Sector Initiatives. Additionally, the Love Kitchen has received a certificate of appreciation from the State of Michigan and was recognized by the Detroit City Council for its efforts in the Gulf Coast region. The Love Kitchen’s 30th anniversary was recognized when it was listed in the Congressional Record by U.S. Congresswoman Candice Miller, on April 30, 2015.
Little Caesars franchise owners donate the resources necessary to make each Love Kitchen serving a success. An estimated 50,000 franchisees, their employees and corporate colleagues have volunteered over the years to support the program in their local communities.
Founded in 1917, the Evansville Rescue Mission operates six ministry divisions throughout Vanderburgh County: the Residence Center which shelters homeless men (more than 50,000 nights of lodging provided in 2015), the Youth Care Center-a detention center for troubled youth, Camp Reveal-the Mission’s campground/retreat center, two Evansville Rescue Mission Thrift Stores located in Evansville, as well as ERM’s new Donation Center, located a block away from ERM’s downtown main campus in Evansville.
