Lea and Rodriguez set Aces Top 15 times at John McNichols Invitational
The Purple Aces finished seventh of seven Division I teams 
 
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — The University of Evansville cross country teams returned to action at the John McNichols Invitational on Saturday morning.

Sophomore runners Samuel Lea (Worchester, England) and Rafael Rodriguez (Segovia, Spain) set two Top 15 program times in the men’s 8K with personal bests at the John McNichols Invitational for the Purple Aces. Lea led all UE runners with a time of 25:02.5 for sixth overall among Division I runners in Terre Haute. While Rodriguez finished eighth among Division I runners with a time of 25:07.1. The two times are good for 12th and 14th in program history in the men’s 8K.

Also finishing on the men’s side for Evansville were returning runners Woody Burrell (Ceaderburg, Wis. / Ceaderburg HS) with a time of 26:31, Cedrik Flipo (Beloeil, Quebec) with a time of 26:58, and Adam Oulgout (St. Paul, Minn. / Central HS) with a time of 27:17. The Aces also had four freshman runners compete on Saturday with Andrew Potter (Warsaw, Ind. / Warsaw Community HS) with a time of 28:21, Kadin McAllister (Lilburn, Ga. / Parkview HS) with a time of 28:27, Oliver Wilgocki (Chesterton, Ind. / Chesterton HS) with a time of 28:36, and Vincent Filipek (Northville, Mich. / Northville HS) with a time of 30:38.

On the women’s team in the 6K the fastest finisher for the Aces was sophomore Avery Stephens (Newburg, Ind. / Castle HS) with a time of 24:41. She was followed by sophomore Kyndall Anthis (Patoka, Ind. / Princeton Community HS) with a time of 25:08. The first freshman finisher of the morning for the UE women was Lauren Bradley (Russiaville, Ind. / Western HS) with a time of 25:12. She was followed by senior Hannah Bryan (Evansville, Ind. / Reitz HS) with a time of 25:37 and sophomore Chase Hayes (Noblesville, Ind. / Western HS) with a time of 27:39. Rounding out results for the women’s team were freshmen Skyler Dickenson (Brownsburg, Ind. / Brownsburg HS) with a time of 29:49 and Rebekah Sachs (Milwaukee / Milwaukee School of Languages) with a time of 30:56.

Evansville returns to action in two weeks at one of the largest cross country meets in the country. The Aces will head to Louisville for the Live in Lou meet hosted by the Cardinals on Saturday, October 5th.
