GREENCASTLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Women’s Indoor Track & Field collected four wins at the Tiger Small College Invitational Friday night in Greencastle, Indiana.
Senior Melina Gryschka (Garbsen, Germany) earned her second win of the season and first in the 800 meters, completing the event in a time of two minutes, 22.49 seconds. Junior Kate Henrickson (Boonville, Indiana) finished the event second in 2:24.26, while freshman Amanda Moore (Farmersburg, Indiana) came in fourth.
The Screaming Eagles also came away with the top two spots in the mile, as junior Allison Rollins(Newburgh, Indiana) brought home the win in 5:22.19. Junior Micalah Booher (Pendleton, Indiana) finished second, with junior Sarah Hamilton (Chandler, Indiana) and senior Allyson Watson (East Peoria, Illinois) finishing fourth and fifth, respectively.
In the 3000 meters, sophomore Ashley Lawhorn (Frankfort, Kentucky) grabbed the win, crossing the line in 10:55.43. Watson had her second top five of the night finishing second.
Freshman Dakota Gates (Columbus, Indiana) took second in the 200 meters in 28.02, with fellow freshman Ralen Campbell (Indianapolis, Indiana) taking fourth in 28.25. Campbell was also second in the long jump with a leap of 15 feet, 10.25 inches, while sophomore Rylie Smith (Floyds Knobs, Indiana) was runner-up in the pole vault with a height of 9’5.25″.
The 4×400 meter relay team of Hamilton, Henrickson, Gates, and Gryschka was also victorious.
USI returns to action February 9-10 at the GVSU Big Meet in Allendale, Michigan.
