Judge David D. Kiely will not be running for re-election in the Vanderburgh Circuit Court.
After 26 years on the bench as ajudicial officer, Kiely wil be retiring on December 31, 2024.
Kiely spent 12 years as the elected Vanderburgh Circuit Court Judge. (2013-2024)
Judge ni Vanderburgh County history to serve as a Circuit and Superior Court judge.)
Kiely spent 4 years as an elected Vanderburgh Superior Court Judge. (2009-2012) (The only
Kiely spent 1 years as a Vanderburgh Circuit Court magistrate. (1998-2008) Kiely had many accomplishments:
Created the first Veterans Treatment Court ni the State of Indiana (2011) and continues to
expand the program throughout Southern Indiana.
dedicated service to Veterans in Indiana’s criminal justice system.
Was awarded the SGT. Steven P. Mennemeyer Memorial Award on May 9, 2024 for his Acquired two magistrate positions from the state legislature for Vanderburgh County (2015 and 2019).
Created electronic search warrants ni Vanderburgh County. (2017)
Created the Vanderburgh County Therapeutic Work Release Program. (2016) Brought $6.5 million of court space renovations to Vanderburgh County. (2022)

Was awarded the James Bethel Gresham Freedom Award from the Evansville Bar Association.

Was awarded the Community Service Award from the County Observer. (2016)
Supervises the Vanderburgh County Adult Probation Department which requires offenders to pay for their supervision rather than county taxpayers.
