Did anyone else notice on Page 102, which is an example of a typical electrical bill, under section “Taxes and Fees”, electricity users are billed 3.000% for SCHOOL TAXES? Is that a KY state tax or a county tax?
Can anyone figure out which numbers they use to calculate that 3% School Tax? How do they come up with $112.23? Does that mean if you generate your own electricity that you do not have to pay school taxes? If electricity use declines, do the schools see a matching decline in revenues?
On the Pg. 103 there is a paragraph that informs the customer of the amount of CO2(carbon) their electric use has generated that month. They show 1627 KWH generating 3254 lbs of CO2, and compares it to a customer who uses only 1000 KWH, generating 2,000 lbs of CO2. Could we see some similar numbers from Vectren regarding A B Brown or any of their other facilities? What is an acceptable amount of CO2 production?
There is a charge titled “Home Energy Assistance Fund Charge”, which may correspond to the Helping Hand matching fund Vectren promotes, except the customer doesn’t seem to have any choice about making a donation. Don’t get any ideas, Vectren.
What are: “Electric DSM” which takes .00243 x 1627,
and the “Environmental Surcharge” of 9.290%?
Both of these charges are added onto the electric charges, and while I don’t think I care to have them added onto Vectren’s bills, I would like to understand what they are. Just in case they come up before the IURC in the future.
