Katterhenry in second as Aces open spring season

UE in Jacksonville for the week 

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After winning three tournaments in the fall, University of Evansville golfer Kayla Katterhenry picked up right where she left off and ranks in a tie for second following the first round of the Benbow Invitational at Jacksonville Beach Golf Club.

Katterhenry fired off a 2-over 74 and is one off the lead going into play on Tuesday.  Her efforts has the Purple Aces in fourth place on the team list, just two out of a tie for second place.  UE finished with a 323 while Northern Kentucky and The Citadel are tied for second with a 321.  Valparaiso leads with a 312.

Giulia Mallmann is second on the UE squad.  Her 80 in the first round has her in a tie for 12th place.  Two behind her is freshman Madison Chaney.  Her 82 placed her in a tie for 19th.

Maria Pickens sits in a tie for 40th with her round of 87 while Maggie Camp carded a 93.  Rachel Marchi and Carly Waggoner played as individuals.  Marchi finished Monday’s round with an 88 while Waggoner notched a 92.

UE wraps up the tournament on Tuesday.
