Gregg – who lost to Republican Mike Pence in the governor’s race last year – had stayed on the political circuit after the election, attending events throughout the state.

But Gregg said on his Facebook page Tuesday that “despite the overwhelming support and encouragement to make another run,” he would no longer be actively seeking the Democratic nomination for governor.

“My intent had been to be our party’s candidate for the office of governor in 2016,” he said. “After all, we ran the closest governor’s election in over 50 years, coming within 2-1/2 percent, while being outspent 2-1/2 times. I believe that we would be victorious in 2016.”

But Gregg said “sometimes life events curb one’s focus.”

“I have always been about more than ‘politics,’” he said. “Over 10 years ago I stepped back from the political world and its demands to focus on my family. It was a great choice – and one I am making again today.”

Gregg was not specific about the reasons he wanted to focus on his family.

    • Pence is not a disaster per se for Indiana. What he is, is a laughing stock. He makes the state seem like it is filled with idiots. You and I both know that is not the case but Pence really makes us look backwards to outsiders. Heck, maybe we are. People like Pence and Obama who push extreme positions based on ideology as opposed to fact always give outsiders a jaded view of the herds that elected them. Pence and Obama while very different send the same message. That message is that the people who elected them are foolish.

    • The fool is going to try to run for President eventually. That is really going to make us look like idiots. He really pushes his “Christian Right agenda”!

  1. thank God for Daniels and pence and the good smart people of Indiana…….that Indiana is not a economic disgrace that most of the country is in under commie Barry Obama…….

    • Dow Jones doubled and wealth gap at an all time high and growing. Yep, Obama sure is a pinko commie socialist!

          • No, no, no. you’re suppose to call anyone who dares to criticizes great leader a racist not loony.

          • He’s probably both, but you’re not allowed to point out racism anymore even if it’s justified. Anyone who claims all the negativity toward Obama is based solely on policy, I suggest you take about two minutes and read some internet comments on other web sites that don’t censor comments. I’m white in case you’re wondering.

  2. John Greg shall run for 8th District US Congress seat.

He will beat the Doctor in a close race thanks to middle of the road Republicans and disenchanted tea party people.
