IS IT TRUE SUNDAY MAY 11: Efforts To Oust Wayne Parke Underway

42

Wayne ParkeIS IT TRUE we have gotten a rush of calls and emails from long time Republicans since the end of the primary expressing their desire to see Wayne Parke removed as Vanderburgh County Republican Party Chairman?…the reasons are varied but the common theme has been that first the use of party funds to bankroll a primary candidate is not acceptable, secondly that aggressive treatment of supporters of Bruce Ungethiem is not acceptable, and thirdly that attempting to interfere with the business relationships long established by the City County Observer exposed the Republican Party to financial liability?…here is an email exchange between Sean Selby and Mr. Parke that we have been given permission to publish by Mr. Selby that is typical of the depth of disappointment that we have been hearing from others?

Wayne,

I hope this email finds you well and you have had time to recuperate from all of the political activity this week.

Numerous sources have indicated you may have been questioning my loyalty recently as Republican in regards to my letter endorsing Bruce Ungethiem and I wanted to give you an opportunity to respond to the veracity of those claims. If you have any question as to the length and/or merit of my exclusive service to the Republican Party, I will be glad to printout my candidate bio that I provided at the January special election caucus for your review.

Is it also true that you authorized $5,000 to $10,000 of Vanderburgh County Republican Party funds to finance Marsha Abell’s recently failed campaign by nearly 10 points but did not help Bruce at all? Some are particularly interested in this as these funds could have been instead dedicated to state convention delegate fees or some other more applicable use, for instance. Further, I hope that now you will be changing your perspective on Mr. Ungethiem going forward as he is now the official candidate for the Republican Party.

You might recall my concern at our sit-down a few weeks ago about party chairmen being overly involved before the primary process decides the Republican candidate, as we learned the hard way at USI College Republicans that it was not the proper way for us conduct ourselves because of all the problems that resulted, for one.

You might also recall that I publicly asked whether you had thought about resigning after what was perceived as threatening behavior toward fellow Precinct Committeemen like Brenda Bergwitz over their political activity. I would kindly repeat that inquiry for your consideration as to whether you are still effective in your post as Republican Party Chairman in light of recent events.

I look forward to your responses,

Sean Selby

IS IT TRUE that Wayne Parke’s response to Mr. Selby’s respectful email is as follows:

Sean–

I am surprised/disappointed by the tone and comments of your email. You should not be listening to other sources before talking to me because it appears they do not know what they are talking about regarding the issues you mentioned. Please identify the other sources, so I can contact them.

If you wish to meet and discuss each of the points of your email, I will be happy to do so. Let me know when you would like to meet. Bring your sources with you to the meeting if you want to.

I can tell you this now, I will not be resigning as Chairman. Remember the opponents are the Democrats not me or not other Republicans.

Wayne Parke

IS IT TRUE we expect that this is just the first of many articles coming forward that will have long established Republicans attempting to get Mr. Parke to step down for the reasons set forth in the opening paragraph of this IS IT TRUE?

IS IT TRUE we just posted a new Readers Poll that addresses the Wayne Parke issue.  …you may express your opinion by going to our poll to vote weather you support Mr. Parke of not?

  1. Brace for Wayne’s minions to come swooping out of the sky with persistent stupidity, lies, and personal attacks launched in his defense.
I believe Mr. Parke’s continued tenure as GOP County Chairman is to my party’s advantage. Of course, I’m a Democrat.

  2. YES!!!

I was sooooo glad to see this article on top of the CCO today. I’m also thankful for someone like Sean Shelby (a fellow Leadership Institute Alum I may add) taking this task on. This is a daunting task but I have faith he will succeed.

I do not believe it is proper for Parke and his sycophants to now be allowed to jump on the Ungethiem bandwagon. They had their chance and they did everything they could have to sink Bruce. We’ve also seen Winnecke take care of his supporters and his supporters only.

There is no place for these people in either the Bruce Ungethiem or Rick Davis Populist movements in their parties. The machine must not be allowed to stay in power by simply moving over onto a new bandwagon.

Worst of all is something that needs to be mentioned. Wayne Parke completely ruined Pete Swaim’s campaign. Yes, Pete shall bear the most responsibility for allowing it to happen but Parke was behind the wheel and he drove it right off the cliff.

How do you run a campaign against Monastrelle and not bring up the ball fields? How do you not mention anything about the ECVB? He basically let Monastralle walk all the way down the field and into the end zone without putting a hat on him.

And it’s pretty obvious that that was done because Monastrelle is just as deep in the Republican machine as Swaim was getting. So Pete didn’t say a word about the issues in his race even though it wasn’t what was best for Pete.

But most importantly, Swaim was done the minute he listened to Wayne about the CCO Mole Show. You don’t mess with the man who orders ink by the barrel unless you are friends with another person who orders more. Pete was no match for the CCO and solid proof that Wayne should leave the chairman position.

    • R & RS, I totally agree that for the betterment of the Republican Party, Parke should go. His actions have damaged the local Repub party and has given politics as a whole another black eye. The CCO has done a superb job of “outing” Mr Parke and his tactics. However, your personal character assassination of Mr Montrastelle based upon your belief that the ball field complex should be built @ Kleymeyer(Really?)is narrow minded and in the minority. Your insinuation that he has chaired the ECVB and served the citizens in an irresponsible manor is at best slanderous; shame on you. Please remember Montrastelle’s involvement with the ECVB began post Biaggi’s. I know, now comes my assassination, but that’s O.k. We know you have a history of posting totally bogus statements(NBA arenas?)but everyone understands your heart is in the right place? Have a great day!

      • Montrastelle is a big-spending fun & game Republican who supported consolidation. He’s dead in the water with a challenger that has an name recognition at all. A majority of the City did not support consolidation, and we all know how the County felt. The ball diamond spending is not a plus for him. It won’t be done this year, and therefore he can make no claim of success. The only thing we remember about him and those ball diamonds is the price, the flooding and the premature contract with Blankenburger. Additionally, “dynamic” is not a word that I would use to describe him. He’s not good on his feet. He was spoon-fed his primary win based on Swaim’s inability to campaign. His challenger will not have the same problem.

        • So who is going to run against him? He has no opponent at this time. Truth is there are lots of vacancies on the ballot where no Dem is running against a Rep this fall. Got any suggestions? June 30 is not that far away.

      • I like how 99% of your posts are in reply to mine, and every time you post somebody else comes on here to enlighten you on the situation. It doesn’t surprise me that you support Monastrelle as well.

Slanderous? So an opinion that the ECVB is ran terribly is not allowed? Even when it has been on just about every front? Get a clue man.

As for the ball fields, name ONE general public session held post Biaggis?

      • One other thing. Yea I completely lied about NBA arenas in the 80s. Can you believe that? Who would do such a thing? I had huge plans of gaining power and riches beyond your imagination but then you, you stepped in and ruined it. How dare you expose my great Nba arenas in the 80s plan to fool an entire city. And now I’m afraid you will ruin my next plan on not indenting my paragraphs on this site. What will happen to me?

I think it’s funny how Parke always complained about people hiding on this site and then you come on here and do something that’s about as dumb and pointless as I have seen in quite some time (and I have seen a lot on here) and not a peep. Interesting.

  3. Whoa.

Wayne’s response to Mr. Selby sounds exactly like many of his posts here at the CCO; condescending, “you should only believe what I tell you”, and more than willing to whip any Republican he considers as not towing his line. The guy should bow out.

  4. Wayne, What Kool-Aid flavor are your drinking…Hey, Shaun, you should have mentioned the violation of the FTC laws in regards to the constraint of trade, i.e. the abuse of power allegedly instituted by Mr. Park regarding the tread to CCO advertisers if they continued advertising with the CCO or risk losing City and County Contracts. Boy, reminds me of the Nixon years…maybe the term will be Waynegate!!!

  5. Parke should stay on as Rebub chair .He is the best cheerleader we (Dems)have going for us at this time. Batting Avg. 1000. Backed 2 candidates and lost 2. 0&2right now. Hang in there Wayne you’re doing a good job for us.

    • Sad truth is Wayne has a fuller ballot than your chairman. Come to think of it how about you finally step up and run for something.

      • Yeah right. A lame attempt to minimalise a persons opinion because they haven’t ran for an office.

  6. who cares……nothing will change…….both parties are the same…. the good ol boys network runs wild in e town and with out a doubt the reason over the last 30 yrs 70% of e town has turned into a pigsty……..keep spending money no one has for the benefit of a few special interest groups and e town will be little detroit…………….

    • He already endorsed Kathryn Martin by trying to get her to jump ship to the Republican Party. Whomever they are running against her is by definition his second choice.

  7. Thanks to Sean Shelby for standing up for whats rights. Wayne Parke is a know it all bully and must go.

Also Parke sent County Attorney Joe Harrison Jr., County Commissioner Kiefer, Judge Les Shivey and Count Prosecutor Nick Hermann nasty e-mail because they attended a social event for Dave Wedding.

Let the recall movement to replace Parke begin.

  8. Hey Media Bluff don’t for get that GOP Party Chairman Nick Hermann fired Wayne Parke as his Treasurer several years back. Wonder why Nick Hermann was force to fire Parke?

  9. “Please identify the other sources, so I can contact them.” Be sure they are using their real names Wayne.

  10. Hot off the press. Breaking news. The Courier and Press just posted an article about people that want GOP Chairman Wayne Parke to resign. Wow, looks like the City County Observer scooped the Courier and Press by at least 6 hours concerning this story about Wayne Parke.

I don’t understand why the Courier and Press are increasing my monthly subscription fee from $15 to $21.28 monthly. I hear that the City County Observer management team have decided to increase its monthly subscription fee to zero. Thats right the CCO shall continue to charge its reading zero dollars. Just continue to read the City County Observer at no cost and you shall continue getting breaking local news for zero dollars.

    • You’re right about the C&P and they’re usual worthless propaganda rants. The cost is too much for completely predicable “pressed” applications.
However our team has begun to delve into what the environmental clean up requirements are to clean the site in the downtown up for a community based useful blend purposing.
Any conceptual ideas would only be relevant if the standing building purpose could demonstrate positive actions to correct the previous affect, as, perceived forward.

Someone said a rather “exclusive” social club might be in order, one based on parody and comic illusions.
The thought of the facility name, [Comic Cons] as a signpost signature façade, unfortunately to our detriment that is a “trademark” already.

  11. Parke has done himself in. He is a liability to the local Republican Party as evidenced by his actions, and the results, while Chair of the local GOP Central Committee.

    • It appears both parties are having leadership problems. That’s what happens when you think you have a monopoly on brains. What I find interesting is that both parties appear to be covering for each other. Russ and Winnecke should have no problems coming out with the 2012 audit and laying it at the feet of Jonathon and a democrat controlled city council. Councilman Friend admitted Winnecke was left with a mess, the fact Winnecke didn’t take advantage of this out is suspect. I depend on the republicans and democrats to out each other, this keeps some level of honesty in the system. When you have the two parties protecting each other that should shake up the citizens. Can’t depend on the C&P, they sold out years ago. The best I can say for those who work for the C&P is keep those resumes updated. Craigslist is already doing a number on their want ads and if the funeral homes could come up with a combined sight for obits that would finish the C%P.

  12. Thinking back several months back when Parke was mentioning money support to Abel. I had interpret
that he was using his own “personal” money from the way he had put it into words, not the parties money for support in which it seems was his to use.

Were any of you thinking the same way, or did I miss the boat on that one?

    • You missed the boat, but it was easy to do. The line between his personal money and the party’s money had probably blurred in Wayne’s mind.

  13. Just voted on the CCO Readers Poll. I voted yes that Parke should resign as Chairman of the local GOP. Please join me and do similar.

      • That seems pretty easy. I think given Nick Herrmans track record as chairman you have to look there although he probably has his hands full with the prosecutor position.

After that I feel very strongly that Sean Shelby has to be the man for this job. When you look at his resume, you look at his experience, you look at his leadership, and you look at the fact that this is a person who can look at projects on their merit and he can go and bring in a wide array of people to undertake it. We don’t need a machine or ideologue candidate. We need a person who can get results and that’s Sean.

I also feel like the career experience of Shaun Short and Jeremy Heath need to be addressed in the positions surrounding the chairman. A lot of great people for these positions. The machine needs to get out of the way.

          • EKB, Your welcome, on the thanks, here’s another link.
One would think even some of the hardheads on the changed climate would get it after reading this.

This is what we in the USA need to focus on, believe me things will get more intense before they get better.
My own data has shown this for the last three years I’ve actually studied the changing climate.

NASA is on this rest assured, the new systems going up early this summer should help us understand the hydrology prediction issues. The water elements can be seen from orbit 24/7×52.

Evansville’s Metro best get on CSO problem right now, or, as usual they’ll be left way the hell behind, flat footed, mouth hanging open, and a buck short, as well.

  14. Thanks Patriot for the advice on that Parke guy. I shall be casting my vote against in a few minutes.

  15. Let the crusade begin to replace a major liability within our party. Lets call a party caucus so we can have a public vote to force Wayne Parke to resign.

  16. As I am not a Republican, I’m abstaining from voting in your survey. Frankly, I don’t believe it makes one iota of difference who is chairman of either party, though. The Comittee people have no say in running their parties. The local “in crowd” does.
If it is true that there is serious consideration to removing SBR from her Ward Leader post because she voted in the GOP primary, maybe Wayne Parke and Rob Faulkner could just switch parties. The Republicans may be better served if they chose someone who is more personable than Mr. Parke, though. It’s always easier to keep the “little people” in line, if the person does it with a smile and a “please”, instead the Wayne has gone about it.
