IS IT TRUE? November 11, 2011
IS IT TRUE that on this Veteran’s Day the City County Observer would like to take this opportunity to thank and honor all of our Military Veterans?…that whether it is the Veterans of WWI, WWII, Korea, Viet Nam, Grenada, the Balkans, Iraq, Afghanistan or any number of special operations that require bravery and risk of life and limb that our Armed Services deserve honor and support from all of us?…that we raise our glass and tip our hats to all American Veterans living and dead?…that without their sacrifices our prospects for life would not be as good as they are?
IS IT TRUE that our Mole Messenger tab yesterday received a message that stated that 3rd Ward Evansville City Councilwoman Elect Stephanie Brinkerhoff-Riley has resigned from the Central Committee of the Vanderburgh County Democrat Party?…that we went straight to the person accused and Brinkerhoff-Riley confirms that she indeed did resign from her position with the Vanderburgh County Democrat Party on November 2nd?…that she did not provide any particular reason for her action?…that we have confirmed that there are a number of formal complaints that have been filed with the Indiana State Democrat Party that seek to have Evansville City Councilwoman Connie Robinson and Precinct Committeewoman Louise Williams removed from their positions within the Vanderburgh County Democrat Party?
IS IT TRUE that we shall see what happens with the local branch office of the Democrat Party?…that one thing that is for certain and that is that if the Vanderburgh County Democrat Party is to be credible then something must be done?…that if this were a business undergoing a reorganization that the entire group of officers would be fired and the office would be moved so that the dysfunctional organization could start over?…that I am told by those in the know that in politics it just doesn’t work that way?…that the lecture that the CCO was provided stated that in party politics that only loyalty matters and that performance has little meaning?…that this is why our system of choosing leaders just does not seem to be working?…that at a time that our cities are filing for bankruptcy, our states are cutting services, and our country can’t seem to agree that apples are good for you, that loyalty to rusty old POLITICAL MACHINES is the last thing that needs to prevent real talent and merit from having any interest in seeking public office?
IS IT TRUE that Mole #7 tells the CCO that former Chamber of Commerce Vice President Steve Schaeffer is under serious consideration to move into Rose Young’s office as Mayor Elect Lloyd Winnecke’s Chief of Staff?…that Mole #7 also tells us that Vanderburgh County Councilman Joe Kiefer has been in hot pursuit of being appointed to Winnecke’s seat on the Vanderburgh County Commissioners?…that will open up a seat on the County Council and that a couple of candidates are being considered for that position if Kiefer is successful in his lobbying effort to be appointed as a County Commissioner?
I hope that the Republican Central Committee and precinct committee persons can find a sharper knife in the “drawer” than Mr. Kiefer.
Unlike the Democratic politicians in Vanderburgh County Mr. Kiefer is both honest and hard-working. He has also been more kind and considerate to his Democratic colleagues than they have been to Republicans.
Good luck and best wishes, Joe.
The dysfunctional democrats that you refer to elected all contested races except for the office of the mayor. Most democrat office holders could not support a candidate that they believed was incompetent to serve as Mayor of the City of Evansville. Therefore that office was sacrificed for the good of the city.
Or they were very very afraid of what would have been dug up! The good of the city? The white collar of the blue! We shall see!
It is no challenge to get the blind to vote for the blind or the dumb to vote for the dumb. The outcome of this election reinforces the need to consolidate so that the fools of Evansville are diluted. It is the leadership and blind allegiance of the Democrats that have kept Evansville in the dark ages. It is time to consolidate for the sole purpose of stopping the race to the bottom.
It ain’t going to happen! Now matter how much money the rich bring in and the Courier wants it!
I do have to agree, consolidation will never pass in it’s present form, they need to start all over, include the police & fire, and take away the power the current plan gives to the mayor then it might just have a chance, otherwise it’s a waste of everyone’s time to even consider it.

That it was reported to me by a reliable source that one of the newly elected city councilmen, upon being congratulated of his win, began immediately cursing the fact that Winnecke was now at the helm. (This is not some stupid blogger sentiment).
This is exceedingly troubling. Does this sound like a group of folks willing to begin the work of change in Evansville?????
Is it going to come to naming names and calling out their hypocracy now, or should we wait a little bit longer — say after some more really bad decisions have been made??
What! no singing Kumbyah? we can only hope this is the beginning of more friction between the democrats on the council and the republican mayor, the taxpayers they represent would be the benefactors, and if this bothers you…you ain’t seen nothing yet, I’d find a nice comfy chair and a big ‘ol bag of popcorn and sit back, take it all in, the dems made their bed we’ll see just how well they like it in a year.
JMHO
Stephanie Brinkerhoff Riley resigned her position with the Democrat Central Committee on November 2, and it took 8 long days for the news to arrive at the City County Observer? Did it come by Pony Express with stop-overs in Patagonia?
Burnt toast and unsweetened Grapefruit for breakfast this morning SG?
Botox could’t wipe off that frown you cultivate so earnstly.
So…..SB-R held what office at the DCC? or is she shedding her democratic coat all together? So was she just a trojan horse that used the democrats to get elected? Which begs the question…are there more to follow? rats deserting a sinking ship? or just a proactive move before the state democratic party cleans house? or did the demo party get a taste of their own medicine..being used?
So the question also arises will she still stand and vote with the rest of the demo puppets on the city council? or will that make 3 possible votes against the machine… 😉
Which brings up the question of Mr Friend…will he keep his new found set or was that just a election ploy?
JMHO
Not true. Stephanie was always a real Democrat! And will remain one! She just got caught up in what she thought she had to do to be a member of the thugs! She saw the light! No one but herself and her family helped her win! She is worth the trouble and I’ll bet she fights the hardest for her ward and the city as a whole! Welcome back to the light side! My hat’s off to you!
So what did she resign from?
JMHO
SB-R was Third Ward Leader for the DCC…the same position held by Louise Williams over in the Fourth Ward.
Because she saw the light! And she found like most of the girls in the Thug Nation it’s what you do for the men that get you a seat at the table. And oh, the things that they will ask you to do! Stephanie is smart, hard working and the caretaker of her family! I think that she is probably the maddest at herself for not knowing her worth for the past five years!
SBR signed the Gang of 23 resolution supporting Vice-Chair Connie Robinson. However, SBR did loyaly support Mr. Davis for Mayor. Maybe she’s sick after seeing how subversive her own leaders were to Mr. Davis, and has the good sense to disassociate with their corrupt leadership. If so, kudos to SBR.
We need SBR in the tent! She is the mother of a female and will never let this happen again! I respect her. I wrote hard against her and I care about her! She will be a great leader! She is smart and worth the trouble. Thanks, SBR, for your speech at the Shrine! Better late than never!!!
I’m not questioning her character or motives, just which position she resigned from…thank you All4_1.
So…Sadiemae, since you seem to have a direct line, what was she asked to do that she found repulsive or dishonorable?
I’m not trying to put her down in any way, just trying to get a handle on where this is coming from.

From President George Washington’s Farewell Address
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
The very idea of the power and the right of the people to establish government presupposes the duty of every individual to obey the established government.
All obstructions to the execution of the laws, all combinations and associations, under whatever plausible character, with the real design to direct, control, counteract, or awe the regular deliberation and action of the constituted authorities, are destructive of this fundamental principle, and of fatal tendency. They serve to organize faction, to give it an artificial and extraordinary force; to put, in the place of the delegated will of the nation the will of a party, often a small but artful and enterprising minority of the community; and, according to the alternate triumphs of different parties, to make the public administration the mirror of the ill-concerted and incongruous projects of faction, rather than the organ of consistent and wholesome plans digested by common counsels and modified by mutual interests.
However combinations or associations of the above description may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely, in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
“….destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.”
The question to you and me is will we let it go that far before we act?

See results of today’s CCO poll.
Schaeffer would be a good pick up. Not too sold on Kiefer though.
Yes, Stephanie Brinkerhoff-Riley is definitely one of those candidates that everyone should support, and I’m excited to see her take office!
Unfortunately, Stephanie has a bipolar disorder and changes her mind quite often depending on her moods. She brags about voting for Winnecke and then says how sorry she feels that he lost. She’s going to be a thrill to work with on the council. She might make Wendy look normal.
Interesting…..
This statement of sadiemae’s has had me scratching my head all morning.
————————–
“She is the mother of a female and will never let this happen again!”
————————–
What does this mean? would it be different if she was the mother of a boy? and what is it that she won’t let happen again? Just what happen?
I’m a little more confused than normal on this one.
JMHO
I had the same questions. Also, what does “I wrote hard against her and I care about her!” mean?
Huh….I have all these visions of ritual sacrifices of young women by the men of the democratic party, kinda’ like bohemian grove…not a pretty visual image to have bouncing around in your head.
Between sadiemae’s two posts referencing the things the men ask the women to do, and not letting it happen again….sounds like the making of a good local conspiracy story.
Come On’ somebody spill the beans… 😉

sadiemae:
Do you have a government job that all they pay you for is to dispense your wisdom on the taxpayers dime?
Friday was a government holiday.
Not for sadie mae and her fellow county employees.
Your choice of words seems to imply that you are on the council. If so, the only person who would post something so hateful is Missy Mosby. I bet Stephanie can’t wait to work with you either. You should be so proud of how you decided to get started.
Missy does like to stir the pot quite a bit but this could easily be any one of the Dem Central Comm members. Professionalism always seems to escape them.
I could be wrong, but I’ve heard her talk bad about Wendy, and this is definitely her vernacular. She doesn’t like anyone who doesn’t agree with her on every point, so she definitely won’t like Stephanie.
Yes, you are wrong again!
justthefactsisadouche – you are completely incorrect again! This is Missy Mosby and I do not hide behind screen names when and if I blog! I was called this morning by someone who had read the blogs and was informed that the slander is continuing so I felt the need to correct you! I am looking forward to working with Stephanie Brinkerhoff Riley and even helped campaign for her! So, get your facts straight or better yet, put your real name on here and maybe you would tell the truth and quit spreading rumors.
Miz Mosby_while your here setting folks straight _could you answer a question?
Before the election you attended a fundraiser for the mayor elect and was seen by many in attendance having a conversation with Mr Parks. When a couple posters here asked Mr Parks about the conversation he gave a BS answer about being the official door greeter that night and talked to everyone who came in.
Would you like to shed some light on the conversation? _Yes I know it’s really none of our business_but for the sake of transparency, we would really like to know the truth.
Since it is post_election you really have nothing to loose by telling us the truth and it could help your credibility.
Rick_Roll
Thnk for your loyalty Missy. Wish you would’ve been sent packing.
Correction: thanks
LOL….good luck with that! 😉
JMHO
I hate to break it to you genius but you’ve got slander and libel mixed up….It’s always so nice of you to watch all your supporters come on here and blast other posters but you’re nowhere to be found unless it’s about you and then it’s the end of the world…It’s very obvious that you and the Democratic Central Committee have no regard or respect for anyone but yourself…I’ve dealt with Mosbys for many years… Never turn your back on them or this is what you will get.
Here’s a news flash for you Facts Please, Winnecke won.
Facts Please,
You and sourgrapes have a lot in common on here.
Sorry, Mr. Big Jerk, I would never phrase a comment to include an insensitivity toward persons with a brain disease. And furthermore, I don’t think Stephanie suffers from anything other than buyer’s remorse. I’ll reserve judgement on her reasons for resignation of her ward leader’s position, although I disagree with her reasons, and I expect she will employ her intelligence and professionalism while serving on the council.
