IS IT TRUE our “Freedom of Information Request” reads as follows?

IS IT TRUE pursuant to the Indiana Access to Public Records Act, we are requesting copies of any and all agreements between the City of Evansville and/or the Evansville Redevelopment Commission and US Health Realty/Skanska or any other developer and/or contractor selected by the Evansville Redevelopment Commission to develop and/or construct the Indiana University Medical School to be located in downtown Evansville?

IS IT TRUE In addition, we are requesting copies of any and all Evansville Redevelopment Commission agreements with the proposed Indiana University Medical School to be located in downtown Evansville? …all of the above requested documents should be limited to the years of 2013, 2014 and 2015?

IS IT TRUE If you have any questions regarding this records request, please contact Publisher of the City County Observer?

IS IT TRUE once we get the above requested information we shall share it with our readers?

IS IT TRUE we would like to thank Mark Craig the new Deaconess Sports Park complex manager for noticing that the dirt infields could only accommodate 70-feet base paths?  … leagues rules for players older than 12 must use 80- or 90-feet base paths?  …we consider this to be a bump in the road for the Sports Complex and know Mr. Craig shall quickly correct this problem?

Please take time and vote in todays “Readers Poll”. Also we just posted our current TRI-STATE VOICES TV show. This weeks guests are Courier and Press political reporter Zack Evans and Channel 25 reporter Jordan Vandenberge discussing the primary election results. This is a must view program.

  1. Where not the infields originally designed for softball and under age 13 baseball teams because they share a common base path length? Was the major draw not to be to the largest group which is girls fastpitch and all softball teams?
Is it true there is no “bump in the road”, rather there was never meant to be an effort to attract a small amount of available teams in the 13 and older classes when there are numerous fields available for the few tournaments that might happen?

    • Has anybody seen or heard from Bob Warren??? Please contact the DOD and report him hiding in action (HIA).

  2. Is It True that one of the tournaments that was scheduled to use the new complex has cancelled their plans due to the ball field issue and two others will be using other fields in the area (Bosse Field & North High School)?

Is It True that this is another example of Ready, Fire, Aim for our fair city?

    • Disaffected would have the city shooting itself in the foot and that would be OK with him.

So the question I have is: was the contract given to Skanska, or was it given to U.S. Health Realty? Did U.S. Health Realty get the contract and then hire/partner with Skanska, or did Skanska get the contract and then hire/partner with U.S. Health Realty.

When I first checked with the Indiana SOS some months back, immediately after the announcement, Skanska Health Realty was was listed on their website. At that time Alan Braun’s son was listed as heading Skanska Health Realty. Since that time that listing has been removed, and it seems some rearranging has taken place.

I have always wondered if this IU project was on Industrial Contractors table when their company was sold to Skanska for $110. Million, with the younger Braun remaining with Skanska as an officer.

      • Poor Ghostie, doesn’t realize that cronyism is not confined to a single party or entity. All groups, races, sexes and creeds can be involved in the act at one time or another. Nor should you use a broad stroked brush to accuse all affiliated members as being that way.

          • Dire I could ask you the same damn question. I guess you think that all Republicans are God’s little special people too. ha.

        • Let’s get real Both parties have their cronies/favorites, it’s a who you know world after all.

It’s who the cronies are and what their goals are that concern me.

    • Pressanykey:

U.S. HealthRealty can also provide capital to health systems by monetization of real estate assets through structured lease financings and credit tenant leases. These net lease structures offer complete control and use of the facility without any interference from the landlord and can allow for the building to revert back to the health system at the end of the lease. This net lease can provide an efficient source of capital and significant funds to help the health system achieve its strategic plan.

    • Great questions and observations, press. I am concerned re: the SOS entry being deleted. I could understand that the SOS entry has changed, or the Skanska Health Realty entity went inactive, etc.–but to physically remove all traces of that record ever having existed sounds like more State complicity ala the State Board of Accounts, and in another fashion the IN BMV (overcharges) and finally the Inspector General (settlement of disgraced Education head Tony Bennett for $ 5,000).

  4. Wow. . .just heard that a new sequential to”Field of Dreams” starring Kevin Cosner . . . now, we have been informed that the sequential will be name “Field of Screw-ups” they have taken auditions. . .some of the usual suspects have been Bob Warren co-starring Missy Mosby . . . we are encouraging folks to submit their suggestings for the new name …please did not submit “Field of Nightmares” that has always been used. …under consideration. … Maybe Santa needs to review the resumes again considering the idiots he placed on the CVB
their new names are the magnificent three …So, we will not be singing “take me out to the ball game” anytime soon and thank you Santa Lloyd for those great appointees who BTW lived outside the city limits . . . just imagine if those appointees would have been within the city limits…instead of having those 8 diamonds we would have had football fields . . . remember the old saying “Diamond in the rough” we certainly have it here!

  5. The ball fields issue with the base paths is just inattention to detail. These guys had six years to get this right and something as basic as the distance between the bases got lost in the giddy celebration. I understand that it can be fixed for $90,000 and expect it will be. This will however be the butt of jokes for a long time. Imagine if they opened the Ford Center with the basketball goals at 9 feet instead of ten. It is easily fixed but makes the project look like it was run by a bunch of dopes forever.

    • Well they did build The Betty with only 9000 seats instead of over 10000 like its predecessor.

  6. Could have fixed the ball fields and had over 100gs left, but Winnie gave it to earthscam.

  7. Wow CCO you really went easy on the softball fields situation.

First they ignored all the umpteen softball fields /parks we have all over the city and county and let them get in a rundown dilapidated situation. Sound familiar?

Then they tried to jam the fields into the Roberts Stadium area right next to Wesselman Woods and a residential area.

Next they ignored Kleymeyer Park and other city locations to avoid urban sprawl

After that they paid $14,000/acre ($14,000?acre!!!!!) for a soybean field out in county.
(No expense is too great for the cool kids crowd)

Next they had Bob Warren go around tell everybody what a great economic development tool this was and spew tournament projections so preposterous that anyone with a calendar and a knowledge of algebra could see that his projections were not just rosy, but physically impossible. (But hey the cool kids never get called out by the local obsequious media) Just like Winnecke and his 250 Hotel jobs

Then they pulled a Mike Pence, fascist wannabe, and told the adult rec leagues that they MUST use the new fields.

Now this. This is what you get when you elect people based upon popularity and name recognition and candidates that are obsequious machine lackeys.

I am sick of social butterflies, bar flies, and “cool kids” but Evansville keeps electing them and appointing them.

Give me a competent government bureaucrat and project manager over charismatic cool kids any day.

    • Write what you will about Bob Warren but despite his subterranean profile he has never failed to groundhog up and accept his compensation. I think folks like him keep a suitcase packed. I sort of thought he’d take the Dewey Express outta here when she motored, some lucky city could have got a twofer.

      • Amen, sorry for the religious statement @ Bandana, but the flow of the meaning sometimes does cross those specific boundary’s .

  8. Chief Little Foot measured it by stepping it off. Somebody had already swung with the ruler money and the chief works for fresh whiskey. (‘Carol, crank up the still … ‘).

Typical for Evansville. Don’t ever think professionals are running the city. Incompetence permeates all levels of local government.

    • Put one up on “fubar field” its likely under moderation as we don’t see the post yet.
It had some links maybe that’s this issue for the delay.

      • Careful writing ‘links’, it could remind Winnecke that we need a new city funded golf course. (‘Carooolll…’).

        • We’ll continue to meet the objectives of our consortium, Using consistent denominators the methodology has a high percentage of success. This is teachable, however, for some there the very lesson would point them out every time the mirrors reflection is seen. Links or not, its all relative in the pursuit of the core essence of most successful human activities .

  9. That’s a high dollar sand lot you all have there. Not exactly a field of built with standing versatility “so too speak”. They should have built for the most, and shrunk the base anchors as the needs arise.
That way one can play every class across the score….board. “Viability while offering versatility.”

Our consortium isn’t surprised by that fubar. Wait about say five or six years down the wash boarded North green river road, when climate migration really starts to kick in.
The drainage and the creek are already kind of threating when the rivers up on the levees.
The properties east of north green river might as well research a good firm to represent them when the time comes, and it will. That elevation and the projects abstract had that built in soggy weakness from the start. Mr.Jordan Baer had the most versatile and reliable plan for that complex, and located at Kleymeyer in town with creek crossing built in conjunction with the bridge over the creek at diamond avenue and connection with the greenway and Garvin parks historical content surrounding Bosse field, that was a damned “baseball natural.”
Cronyism and flat out crumby planning wrecked that, and look what you have now….. “fubar field”

    • Infrastructure cost, and site short sheeted actual logistical valuation, that’s all there is to it. Always was and still is. The old rotten downtown Evansville site cost extremely more to build on.
Because the base utility infrastructure is expensive trash, and the cost to bring that to viable standards in comparison to the other RFP sites is considerably more. Basically the downtown site is garbage when compared with the modern logistics of the other RFP’s . Warrick was free for the land, Promenade was way less. and USI is owned already where the written advisories confirm the location is legally fair per the student bodies involved.
The downtown site is nothing more than another cronies bailout rant. Should never even been considered, that’s horrible leadership, and that will never achieve the objectives as set by the end goal to build and maintain a 21’st century IU extension school in southwestern Indiana.

They need to clear the page and get the hell over this fixation with that failed infrastructure of Evansville’s old downtown. You have life quality issues to solve there , and that present debacle isn’t the solution.

      • Now THAT is an answer. Thanks V!….(although tinged with pissedoffedness and resentment).

I love answers like that. A here’s the real deal. I don’t agree with all you’ve said I am stipulating, but I smiled when I read that.

I am seeing all Ivy Tech requests for new construction funding was denied Statewide in this last go-round. I’m looking at it more.

        • You should look more ,why because its bull. Hate to be that short, but how else does a State grow it’s employments viabilities? Technical training is an evolution to higher plains. Call it an awakening if you must, however, if one third of a student body moves into the next event horizon given by earned qualification’s, then the whole meaning for the mission was a success.

        • I wonder if it’s was because Ivy Tech is run by the Former Democratic Mayor of Evansville, IN now and the GOP people in power won’t give him any money for expanding his Ivy Tech Campus or to move students into the new IU Medical School. Is not Jonathan W the head of Ivy Tech out there on First Ave now days?
