IS IT TRUE that for more than 17 plus years this column has served the City of Evansville and Vanderburgh County as the place to go to learn things that are going on in local government that other media is reluctant to cover?…much good has come from things posted in “IS IT TRUE” and the comment section has, for the most part, made the City-County Observer the go-to place for open constructive dialog?
IS IT TRUE we commend members of the “Re-Open Evansville Task Force” for providing the community with constant updates via social media? …that they are doing a creditable job considering the circumstances of the unpredictable COVID-19 virus? …this is the type of servant leadership that will get us through the COVID-19 pandemic?
IS IT TRUE that It’s obvious that outside groups and agitators are attempting to foment lawlessness and unrest to advance their own objectives to cause anarchy in America? Â …we are a nation born of the revolutionary spirit of protest, coupling expressions of grievances against injustice with the desire to be free? Â …we deplore the theft, looting, and the burning of businesses and historical landmarks caused by the random acts of lawless anarchists and thugs? …we believe that these lawless thugs should be arrested and their asses should be thrown in jail?
IS IT TRUE that members of law enforcement officers are human and they make mistakes. …we know that the overwhelming majority members of law enforcement understand that carrying a badge carries a major responsibility and understands when to use force and when to use restraint? …we believe that they also understand that they know what one bad decision will unleash? Â …we support members of law enforcement that are professional, dedicated, honest, caring, and enforce the law without prejudice? …those in law enforcement that don’t display the above traits should look for employment elsewhere?
IS IT TRUE we wonder that next time you have a problem that needs the help of law enforcement who would you call? …would you call a known convicted felon or a member of law enforcement?
IS IT TRUE  that the City-County Observer “Living Outside The Box” speakers series has featured unique and insightful stories of success and perseverance from prominent business leaders that tend to fly under the public radar?  …the event Chairman Steve Hammer just announced that the next “LIVING OUTSIDE THE BOX” event will be held sometime in September or October (depends on the status of the Covid-19 virus) in the private banquet room at Tropicana-Evansville starting at noon?
IS IT TRUEÂ that Dottie Thomas, Chief Deputy Treasurer is doing a fine job in assisting people that conduct business with the Treasurers’ office? Â …Dottie Thomas is not only extremely professional but she also knows her stuff? Â …we need more people like her working at the Civic Center?.
IS IT TRUE that incumbent Vanderburgh County Commissioner Cheryl Musgrave will become the first female commissioner to ever win re-election in Vanderburgh County history?
IS IT TRUEÂ according to MSN that Newspaper publishing is one of only eight U.S. industries that employs less than half as many workers as it did 10 years ago? …while people still read newspapers, many who do subscribe to the digital version, reducing the need for those who print physical copies? Â …that industry workers today are making less money than industry workers in 2010? Â …since that time, the industry’s average annual wages dropped around 20%, one of the larger declines of any industry?
IS IT TRUE that printed newspapers are to the point that there is little financial reason for them to print papers 7 days a week?…the only things of value may be the archival records of the cities that have hosted them for over several centuries in many places?…the historical record of pictures, old articles and columns are worth more than the zero dollars that the day to day operations are cash flowing?…if you think fake news and biased posts are a problem now, just wait until there is no news at all?
IS IT TRUE when the people fear the Government we have Tyranny! Â When the Government fears the people we have Liberty?
