IS IT TRUEÂ the City-County Observer has always strived to serve as a “Community Watchdog” by sounding the alarm when our citizen’s rights are in danger of being violated by large Corporations, Federal, State, and Local Governmental agencies as well as elected or appointed officials?
 IS IT TRUE we realize that a community can have no greater ambassador of goodwill than one which keeps its citizens informed about the accomplishments, failures, and triumphs of individuals, the business community, church, hospitals and community groups, educational institutions and elected and appointed officials?
IS IT TRUE that the law professor Jessica Levinson for NBC News said that ” the Presidential pardons are transparently transactional, having nothing to do with fairness or justice and everything to do with rewarding loyalists, allies, and, almost inexplicably, war criminals and disgraced politicians”? Â …that Presidential pardons are supposed to act as a fail-safe when the federal criminal justice system malfunctions? …without easy access to exceptions in favor of unfortunate guilt, justice would wear a countenance too sanguinary and cruel?
IS IT TRUE that U S  Constitution gives presidents almost unfettered pardon power? …as long as a president steers clear of attempting to pardon a person in cases of impeachment, he is likely operating within his constitutional authority? … pardons can be given prospectively, meaning before a person is indicted or even charged with a crime?  … this is what happened in 1974 when President Gerald Fordprospectively pardoned President Richard Nixon shortly after his resignation?
IS IT TRUE we find it laughtful that Indiana Congressmen Larry Bucshon stated that walking through a metal detector violates his constitutional rights? Â …we remember when another elected official felt the same way? Â …in 1976 United States Senator R. Vance Hartke (D) claimed congressional immunity and refused to go through the security gate at the Evansville airport Indiana? Â … that the voters were so outraged by his display of arrogance they went to the polls and soundly elected Dick Luger (R) as the next Senator from Indiana?
IS IT TRUE that a group of GOP lawmakers are not happy with how Governor Eric Holcomb has been using his emergency powers to respond to COVID-19virus pandemic?  …that Governor  Holcomb made his first COVID-19 related emergency order on March 6, 2020 as Indiana began encountering the deadly COVID-19 virus?  …that 10 months later, Indiana is still seeing major increases in numbers of confirmed cases and deaths because of the COVID-19 virus?  … that Governor Holcomb has signed over 50 executive orders and renewed the public health emergency nine times in hopes of slowing the spread of the deadly COVID-19 virus?  …there have been over 9,000 plus COVID-19 deaths in Indiana so far, and that number is growing every day?
IS IT TRUE that many people are puzzled why the GAGE Board Of Director has seemly stopped the national search for a new CEO for that organization?  …could it be because that there may be some behind the scene posturing between the GAGE leadership and officials at the Area Chamber Of Commerce concerning the realignment of  the scope of GAGE?
IS IT TRUE we are told that may be some philosophical differences between members of the Vanderburgh County Board of Commissioners and Vanderburgh County Council members concerning the spending of County TIF funds?
IS IT TRUE it looks like Vanderburgh/Evansville Visitors and Convention Bureau may be planning to market our area early in the game once the COVID-19 virus is no longer medical or economic threat? …we been told that the EVCB has just make two new hires?
IS IT TRUE that we find it extremely interesting that certain members of the Evansville City Council are telling people that they are a politically non-partisan elected body?  …that there are nine (9) members on the Evansville City Council?  …each member either runs as a Democrat or as a  Republicans?  …there are three (3) Republicans and six (6) Democrats currently serving on the Evansville City Council?  ….that this politically partisan board recently elected a Republican to serve as President and appointed a Republican to be hired as their attorney for 2021?
IS IT TRUE that the best-selling book on Amazon this week is the dystopian novel by Orson Welles called “1984â€?…this book that shows what happens in the future when a groupthink driven dictator called “Bob Brother†takes power and proceeds to impose his will upon the entire populace by cancelling and changing the reality of history and making small transgressions against his ideology as capital crimes?…it is time to start a dialog about just why so many people in 2021 are interested in the book called 1984?
IS IT TRUE the most famous Super Bowl commercial in history was based on breaking out of the dogma imposed upon others by Big Brother in 1984?…the meaning of the revolutionary figure throwing a sledge hammer through the screen in that commercial was a symbol for the overthrow of tyranny?…this commercial was produced by Apple back when the founders were still in charge?…what is truly ironic is that Apple today while being highly successful financially is one of a handful of companies that can actually enable groupthink to be mandated and cancel culture to thrive?…it seems as though that little computer company that started to change the world for the better is a participant in doing the opposite?
IS IT TRUE that the first health passport was just announced by American Airlines?…this health passport will be required for travel aboard their flights coming from overseas and will assure that any travelers have gotten a negative Covid test during the 72 hours prior to boarding the plane?…the cost of updating these health passports will be borne by the travelers and may very well blunt the international spread of the virus?…the real question is why are there international flights during a mandated lockdown?…this clean bill of health passport will be useful in the short term but really infringes upon fundamental freedoms in the long run if the powers that be choose to use it that way?…this is yet another tool of a future Big Brother who want to impose rules to control every move a person makes from the cradle to the grave?

As of the end of the fiscal year 2020, President Trump has pardoned 28 individuals and commuted the sentence of 16 – 44 total. President Obama pardoned 212 and commuted 1715 – 1927 total. President GW Bush pardoned 189 and commuted 11 – 200 total.
